Burma to Beach Bike Ride
Join us for a bike ride from the Burma Border at Singkhon to the beach at Ao Manao in Prachuap.
This is mostly an easy downhill coast for just 20km until reaching the beautiful cove at Ao Manao where lots of food and cold beverages are available. We will roll at 11:am on 11-11-11 or November 11th this year. If you are a bit more serious about riding a bike, ride from the beach to the Singkohon border checkpoint in time to roll back down at 11.
For more info call 0850887181.

Nice timing there Don - how about making it a sponsored ride for the poppy appeal?

The BBC commentators are wearing poppies already. Threw me off a bit as so early. Pete

This was discussed on my local Beeb radio station yesterday Pete. It seems that the rule is for all BBC presenters and staff who appear on TV must wear poppies. The official day for starting to wear them is I think today - but some start earlier if they wish.
The subject came up because one UK employer (can't remember which now) has banned staff from wearing poppies....

And just why are they wearing poppies? Is it to celebrate the opium harvest?

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Re: Burma to Beach Bike Ride
They are wearing poppies to remember those soldiers killed in wars and allow people like you the freedom to disrespect them!!!!!!

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
Anyway.....

I think it is a bit too late to make it a Poppy ride. Behind the 8 Ball now I am afraid.
If there is someone out there who would like to join us on this coast to the coast but needs transport let me know soon as I may be able to arrange it.

Legend,
We do the Coast to the coast annually.
How can we make it a poppy ride next year?
