Where for Thai to get passport

Post by bapak »

Quick question.. Does a local Thai have to go to Bangkok to apply for a passport or can it be obtained locally?

There is a passport section at the bottom of Bang Na Central shopping mall, where my wife and kids obtained their passports....not sure of the flood situation in Bang Na, haven't seen it on the news, so suspect it's not flooded.

Bang Na Area in BKK is fine, no problems. Passport Office is on 9th Fl Central Bldg.

Also another Office in Pinklao, but that area is flooded I believe.

I think Thais can also get it done at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in BBK, same place you go register your marriage at or change her surname.

My wife and child got their passports in Udon Thani. No trip to Bangkok needed.

My wife just renewed hers a couple of months ago in an office in the parking garage at Central Bangna while I browsed the wonderful Tops market there.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Someone told me that it is a same day service. Is this correct?

It's no longer on the 9th floor in Central Bang Na. It is in an odd little office in the parking garage across from and on the same level as Tops Market. As far as the time involved, the missus says it depends on how busy they are. When we went (August) it took her about 45 minutes for the initial submission and they were busy so they told her she would have to wait two days to pick it up. Alternatively, they will post it to you if they are busy and you don't want to wait (and if you trust the post).
