Tiger Woods' former caddie Steve Williams has apologised for causing outrage at an awards dinner when he made a racist remark about his former boss.
Williams was given an award for the year’s best celebration - a reference to his tongue-in-cheek claim that his current employer Adam Scott’s victory at the Bridgestone Invitational in August was ‘the best win of my career’ - despite being on the bag with Woods for 13 majors.
Asked what the celebration was all about, the 47-year-old New Zealander said: ‘It was my aim to shove it right up that black a**ehole.’

IMO Adam Scott should sack Williams and he should be banned from all PGA Tours. The man is an embarrassment to the sport of Golf.

Steve Williams should be reprmanded or even banned for his comments, whether said tongue in check or not. The PGA shold be very tough on this - sport is about gentlemany conduct and he must be made to undertand that. Adam Scott must be furious, and should sack him too. Woods and Scott are paired together for The Aussie Open....

Yes, and Tiger should be banned from the sport for his years of less than gentlemanly conduct...Steve Williams should be reprmanded or even banned for his comments, whether said tongue in check or not. Williams had been carrying a black man's bags for years. I guess the role reversal finally got to him. Pete

Re: Steve Williams comments about Tiger Woods
Tiger Woods is a manufactured, made-to-measure sporting hero, carefully prepared from childhood to be lead his life in the full glare of public scrutiny. He's also a pretty ordinary human being with an extraordinary talent that doesn't compensate for his inherent character flaws.
I dare say the caddy is in a better position than most to know the real Tiger Woods. It's a shame he included the word 'black' (apparently the new 'n' word) in an otherwise accurate assessment.
All that money wasted on complete idiots - a crying shame...

Re: Steve Williams comments about Tiger Woods
Case closed with an apology accepted and a 'lets put this behind us and move on' attitude and he's still caddying for Scott.
Oh for such common sense to be applied in the UK!
Why do folk deem it acceptable that one comment spoken out of turn. possibly placed out of context, should ruin an otherwise hard earned long standing and successful career?

Re: Steve Williams comments about Tiger Woods
Williams is well noted among players and caddies as being a total txxx. Woods has admitted his faults and boy has he paid for it. Williams is just trying to be a smart ass, Scott has done his usual thing and been and been cool, i have no doubt that he spoke to Tiger about this. Williams is a great caddie.. no doubt... but he is a complete dumb ass too.

So did the Yorkshire Ripper. Neither of them had much choice.JW wrote: Woods has admitted his faults...
Has he? I suppose so. Can't say I have a whole lot of sympathy, frankly....and boy has he paid for it.

The PGA's ruling shows it knows their fans and sponsors generally have contempt and outrage for the left's attempts to brand as racism any negative comment by a white about a non-white.
Re: Steve Williams comments about Tiger Woods
Steve Williams is more stupid than he looks. This is what he is quoted as saying on BBC Sport.
My comments were by no means the worst that were passed. There were a lot of profanities and other kinds of remarks but just because I make a remark regarding my former employee (sic) it gets blown out of all proportion. It's absolutely ridiculous.
"You make one comment in a room, having a bit of fun, how does that make you a racist? That's so far offbeat it's a joke. It's making a mountain out of a molehill and I'm not worried about it one bit."
Williams added that he did not think anyone from New Zealand could be racist.
"We live in a country that is a multicultural society," he said. "We live in a Maori culture which is a great culture and a there's a lot of island culture. I don't think you can say anyone in New Zealand is racist."
Has he got such a big ego that he thinks the golfer works for him or he just doesn't know the difference between employer/employee
As for him saying that Kiwis are not racist just about every Kiwi I have ever met usually hold the Maori people in utter contempt. Much like how the Aussie folk love their Aborigine brothers......

Re: Steve Williams comments about Tiger Woods
Both adjectives are undoubtedly true but should not have been used in the same sentence.
