Leaving a bar
Wondering if anyone knows the ins and outs of this.
Girl works bar and leaves the bar to stay with boyfriend.
Bar owner demands that she (read he) pays owner sum of money for her to leave.
Boyfriend says OK but wants proper receipt for the money from the owner stating what the money was paid for. Owner gets very twitchy and refuses to give receipt for the money.

Re: Leaving a bar
Some owners get away with it as the guy falls for the trick. For the guys who refuse to pay quite often the girls quite often go back with tears to mamasan saying 'farang cheap charlie'
In effect most girls working bars, M parlours or for that matter any job, can walk out when she wants. Many do. Excuse is usually 'mama, papa or buffalo sick. will come back soon'
Seen many girls just walk out of one bar cos no customers and park in the bar 20 metres away

Receipt??????
The guy must be a naive plonker and is lined up to be bled dry I suspect
Shit. I never used to pay a bar fine ( long time ago I might add) if I'd spent time and money in the bar and no mamasan or owner ever challenged me

I will ignore those who feel a sarcastic remark is an appropriate response to a genuine question
Of couse a receipt was not wanted, it was just to be an awkward sod and see the owner's response

Re: Leaving a bar
The question was to try to find out other peoples experiences of this - is it accepted practice or should the the owner just be told to F off

Re: Leaving a bar
This is a scam by both the bar and the girl who will divide the $ between them. The girl is scamming the boyfriend and this is likely just the beginning. It will only get worse if he falls for this as he will appear to be an easy mark. Is the bar owner Thai or foreign?

Re: Leaving a bar
I usually give the owner 50% of the amount they are asking and tell the girl she can have the other 50% to buy some nice sexy gear if she pleads with the owner on my behalf, I also stipulate that the amount will be paid in weekly installments of 10% per week. This system has always worked great for me and has always been accepted. On one occasion the owner cancelled the deal on the second installment as the girl wanted to return back to the bar because of excessive rooting!

I like the 10% a week, I'll probably do that. the owner is Thai (of course).

Ah. My apologies. If I'd realised it was you, I'd have been much more sensitive.littlebird wrote:I like the 10% a week, I'll probably do that.
I don't really mean to be sarcastic, but to me this sort of thread is like asking if I should open my eyes before I cross Petchkasem.
