Close to the exit, on your left hand side, you will find a counter for help with taxis.
Should cost about 1800 - 2500 Baht for a taxi to Hua Hin.
Agree with the price BEFORE you enter the taxi!!!
I intend to live forever - so far so good.

Not sure why train or bus travel scares you so much unless you are frightened of getting lost but its the bestway to travel South East Asia.Cannot beat a second class air con sleeper to Chang Mai,people you meet and the great crack to be had with fellow travellers.Have made a few posts lately myself as am not too busy but with 23 since Aprol 19th I think you are about to set a new record.

The bus route between Bkk and HH is on main, generally wide roads and flat. The bus is not going to fall off a hairpin bend or into a ravine, if you were involved in an accident between a car and a bus, what would you rather be in? They can play crap movies as well and you get free drinks and a refreshement towel. They even have toilets, well some do!
If you have been on greek or spanish roads, or even Londons, you will find it a piece of cake and a lot safer by comparison!

Talk is cheap
There is one very big reason why Hua Hin airport is under used, the number one rule for flying in Thailand states;
" STRICTLY AVOID flight near the King's palace R3 restricted area at Hua Hin. Contact Hua Hin approach when flying near Hua Hin."
To make an approach to Hua Hin in a large aircraft would entail flying very close to, or through this area which would cause the pilot to get arrested!
This is not unusual, you cant fly over Buckingham Palace and the White House has Stinger anti-aircraft missiles on the roof!

I for one can't be @rsed messing around when we arrive or depart Thailand. The LHG normally brings the kitchen sink with her when she arrives - new ''additions'' for the house in HH........ and then literally brings it back with her for a ''Thai feel'' to our place in Chinaa3r1us wrote:Any updates on the BKK to HH travel method?

We have a decent driver (who I and friends/neighbours have used for several years) pick us up in a modern, well kept, clean, air-conditioned mini-bus for 1800 Baht - always given 2000. Met at the airport, taken door to door with a pit-stop halfway or so. Great service.
If you're not carrying a lot of luggage, my bet would be the train as good fun, good company and a good view - just a wee bit longer traveling. Personally, I prefer the bus or train WITHOUT the kitchen sink coming along!!

The rail sounds interesting. Is there a specific railway station I need to take the train at? Or is there only 1 in BKK so I only need to tell the taxi to bring me to the train station?
Re: Bangkok Airport to Hua-Hin
Hualamphong (spelling corrections welcome!) is the main one. Pronounce it Who Are Lump Pong and you should be fine. But before I could pronounce it I always asketd for the Train Station (Sa Tar Knee Lod Fai) and they always took me there. As a farrang looking for a train station, they know which one you're likely to mean.
Be aware that they journey from BKK seems to take longer and longer each year. A couple of years back they were even giving Thai people free tickets due to 'poor service' on the line. I think the longest it has taken me from BKK to Hua Hin is 5 and a half hours.
It is a lovely journey, though, as long as you can keep yourself occupied. I have a very boney backside which makes me irritable on the seats after a couple of hours, but others manage it quite well.
If you're travelling between Friday and Sunday expect a pretty packed out train.
And don't be shy about trying some of the food they come round with. Yum!
