Yeah but you know to get lapped up at home!usual suspect wrote:MAGS!..'Icy air-con blasts'..you should be used to the cold chill..being on the side 0 the Humber..555 :-)
Anyroad will also check out the prices. If they are too 'touristy' the place could suffer - it's hardly on the main Hilton beat.

Re: New Indian Restaurant Chomsin Road
EDIT Apologies - The report below is not for the new curry house on Chomsin Road but for a curry from the Maharaja behind the Hilton Hotel.
I tried it last night. Overall it was OK.
Chicken Vindaloo - 200 Baht. Decent portion size, style similar to the UK Curry House i.e. meat, potatoes and sauce. I quite enjoyed it, I've got so used to the authentic dry version they eat in India that this was a reminder of UK curries.
Chicken Tikka Masalla - 170 Baht. Decent portion size, Chicken Tikka very good, masalla sauce I have never had like that before, although it was very tasty indeed. Sauce quite thick and almost chutney like, not a version I have come across before.
Pilau Rice - 70 Baht. Decent portion size, Not Basmati rice, but cooked correctly with a nice aroma of cardomons and cinnamon and not over cooked.
Overall, I will try it again and hope they at least stay consistent. The biggest let down with most curry houses is just that, you get a good curry one or two times, then get let down with a terrible one.
Also Chomsin Road is nice and close for me.

Re: New Indian Restaurant Chomsin Road
I'm sorry, I have to take the above report back.
I was working late and sent one of my staff to get the curry. I explained it was on Chomsin Road and honestly thought that was where she got it from. Turns out she did not see the new one and went on to the Curry House behind the Hilton.
I only found out last night when I asked the same girl to go to the same place and order something else. She then told me that she did not know where it is and said she went to the Maharaja instead. She didn't feel the need to tell me, after all 'Indian food is Indian food' is it not.
Points to her for going the extra mile though. She knew I wanted to eat curry and made sure she came back with one.
So no reports on the new place yet, I will try and find it myself over the next few days and report back.

Re: New Indian Restaurant Chomsin Road
Gave it a go yesterday, the place looks like it has been an after-thought onto someones house and a small family business, nothing fancy in there. The menu was very limited, one laminated no-frills A4 page, and lacked essentials such as naan bread and several other dishes you'd expect from an Indian.
On the plus side the price was not bad, 160 baht for a mutton 'vindaloo' and pulao rice - cheaper than a Burger King.
Now for the minuses; I asked for takeaway and got it on a plate, I asked for heat and it was mild. The portion of curry was very small and the meat had not been de-boned so most of it was in fact bones. Tried it but wont be returning.
