Forum members hang out?
Forum members hang out?
I was wondering if there was place in Hua Hin where form members hang out and where a newcomer like me who knows nobody in town can go to for a chat a few drinks and some friendly advice.
I have experienced that in Phuket, where the Phuket Board members - tourists as well as expats - start the evening off in Mai Thai bar in Sio Eric and you could always find a few guys to hang out with. As single male traveler coming to a strange place on its own a watering hole like this really makes all the difference. Is there any place like that in Hua Hin where you go, walk up to the bar, make yourself known as a forum member and suddenly you are surrounded by a bunch of fun and welcoming guys?
And before you ask: no I'm not gay looking for "that" kind of company.

Hua Hin is not that big my friend. Take a walk around. You'll meet somebody.
Re: Forum members hang out?
Seems like a relatively simple and sincere question. Perhaps someone who knows the answer to such a straightforward question can provide it for Arnold. I've been in the same situation and would have benefited from such knowledge. Unfortunately, I haven't been in HuaHin for many years, so I'm unable to help.

Johnny Walker Bar seems a popular choice for quite a few of the members....look at the link on the right hand side of the screen

Hi Arnold,
Hua Hin compacted is about the size of Soi Eric ......nowhere quite like the Mai Thai with Nicke and the guys but most bars are friendly..Its a LOT quieter than Patong but still fun .
I went to Pattaya(4hrs in cab..about 2500bht) for a few wild nights mid way through the holiday last time.Comming back to Hua Hin it seemed soooo quiet but thats why I like it!
Ill be there xmas and New Year then again in March if you fancy a beer (not a queer...ha ha!)
Hope this is of some help

Hi Arnold, Johnny Walkers is a expat bar where you get no hassle! Feel free to give me a call if you want a beer and the low down on HH - 0878211077.
Re: Forum members hang out?
Arnold,
This is a slightly tricky question, because many of the regulars here are bar owners, or have close associations with certain bars, which makes them obviously favour their preferred home turf.
However, I do recall my first visit to HH, on my own, some 13 years ago now; and yes it would have been nice to have known a good 'base camp' bar in advance; where to obtain practical advice from seasoned veterans.
A little bit depends on what you have in mind whilst here - there are one or two bars that are well focused on golf, others that are very couple-friendly, and useful for those looking to arrange tours etc. without getting ripped off - but those areas are not my speciality!
If you're looking to meet some nice young ladies with a 'girl-next-door' attitude, then Hua Hin is the place to be; and the best bar to get friendly honest advice, so you don't get scammed; has to be The Romantic in Soi Bintabaht..
I'll be propping up the bar there from Jan 11th, so ask for me and say hello!
Cheers..
Tom

I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I shall be sober and you will still be ugly...

Hey, my name's not Arnold, but I'm similarly situated out here. Mind if I take you up on the offer some time next weekend? Seeing as Friday is payday, I'll probably even be able to spring for a few drinks!JW wrote:Hi Arnold, Johnny Walkers is a expat bar where you get no hassle! Re: Forum members hang out?
Are the bars in and around HH (particularly Khao Takiab) open in the afternoon, or do most of them only open in the evening?
