immigration
Hi all, got a mate from the uk, he is married to a uk /spanish girl. Been here 7 years. Everytime he goes to the department its a run around, and they want big tea money when there is very little out of place. He has 2 children who attend school here, one 15 and one 13 years old. It is a private school and has all paper work, this year they want all birth certs for them, and to have 1000000 baht in the bank. A pa told them they only need 400 each, and they don't combine [eg] one has 430,000 the other 600,000 baht. Does not work, i checked there web site there is nothing on there about it. Anyone got a link or story i can print to stop the nazi mayhem? Thanks all

Re: immagration
No sure what the score is, but I'm sure others will be along shortly to offer advice. From what you've said though, it seems about right to me.........birth certificates, money in the bank, and so on.
Good luck

Good luck

Don't try to impress me with your manner of dress cos a monkey himself is a monkey no less - cold fact
Re: immagration
If the couple are both under 50 years old then the requirement is 400K THB in a Thai bank account for each of them. I don't know where the 1 million comes from.
If one is over 50 then 800K THB in a Thai bank account is sufficient and the other spouse can "piggy-back" on that with their extension.

Re: immagration
as far as i know the 400k rule is valid for thai wife only, but seems she is uk/spanish.lomuamart wrote:If the couple are both under 50 years old then the requirement is 400K THB in a Thai bank account for each of them. I don't know where the 1 million comes from.

Quite right, georgy. I missed the nationality of the wife. Unfortunately, unless the husband is over 50 and has 800K in a Thai bank account or overseas income of 65K a month, or a combination of the two as long as the total is over 800K, then there's no annual extension available for them. I'm assuming that the kids aren't Thai.
Edit The wife's got to be over 50 as well, I believe, but there's only one lot of money necessary for both of them as long as they're old enough. I'm brain dead today.

No wife and/or husband does not have to be over 50 as long as the applicant is over 50. I have a few friends in their 40's on visa extension but in each case husband is over 50lomuamart wrote:Quite right, georgy. I missed the nationality of the wife. Mods... any chance you could just correct the 'typo' in the title?
Can't be too much of an ask surely??!!
Being on your 'Hot Topics' for everyone to see and all that. Or is it too much effort? Or I suppose if someone wants to try to find this thread for useful information later on they will just have to remember to spell it this way when using the search function

Re: immigration
How's that? Never realised an "i" was so important but it's done.
The fact that the thread is in the legal/visa section should be a clue for most.
Chok dii. Hope you're happy now.
Edit Maybe I should have also put a capital "I" as well? If you want me to, just ask
