Mobile crane

Post by barrys »

Does anyone out there know where I can hire a mobile crane (approx. 7 ton load capacity) for a couple of hours to lift a boat off a trailer at our marina in Paknampran?

Don't have any numbers, but there seems to be a few around since we seem regularly. Will keep my eyes open and try to get the driver's mobile number next time I see one.

Same here...I actually saw one trundling across the railway crossing at Soi 94 a couple of hours ago...I might have been going to the building site near S & S Indian Restaurant.

Barry, the place Cookie mentioned is one of the one's I referred to on the phone today. Just come back home past there and there's actually one sitting there waiting to be hired!! Poor picture of it below, but was aiming at the phone numbers.

Anyway a lady came out and said it was a 20 tonner, 6,500-7,000 Baht/day and bosses phone number is 08-10152626. She said he no speak Engrish, which isn't an issue to you obviously

Hope this helps,

Hi Barry,
That's not bad business for Thailand, at those price's SJ quoted, i would be interested in your deal if you wish to PM me.
Also part of my job is to lift very expensive yachts i.e Sun Seakers and Princess'es from water to cradle, and then on to container ships millions of pounds worth in my palms
I also supervise on the ground as a shipside co-ordinator, we lift these Gin Palace's  up to 70 tonnes.
If you have any questions happy to help from a crane operators prospective, or senior stevedore's prospective.

I would be interested to know where the lifting points would be on a traditional thai boat with a truck engine.

Kendo.

Also craning a boat to water before you pay the crane off, you must check skin fittings for leaks, i have lifted round the world racing yachts into the water boomed the crane up, and have been on my way home to get a phone call " get your arse back now the boat is taking in water" big panic on more than one lift, if they don't check it turns into double the cost to re rig the crane and the crane time.

Hi Kendo

Thanks for all the info and advice.
The boat we're lifting is Silverton 31 with no engines in it.
It weights about 4.5 tons and just has to lifted off a flatrack container on a low loader into our shed so it can be worked on.
