Harry Redknapp trial

Post by caller »

We've got 2-weeks of this, so if no-one minds, I thought a separate thread would be better than the premier thread?

'Arry is charged with cheating the public purse out of taxes due on best part of 190k that were paid into a Monaco account.

Its serious stuff. This from an earlier beeb report:

A CPS spokesman told the BBC that, as a common law offence, there is technically no maximum sentence for the charge - meaning that an unlimited fine or prison sentence could be decided at a judge's discretion.

Redknapp drove into the court and stopped outside, wound his window down and said to reporters "Yeah we've heard about the Judge, and I shouldn't really comment on him. BUT, we know he's a t'riffic fella and we'd love to have him on our side."

I do wonder if this will change how things work, whatever the outcome? Is it right that 'Directors of Fooball' and managers should get a cut of transfer fees?

'Arry was on 10% and 5% respectively at Portsmouth and money from the sale of Peter Crouch is part of this case. There was also mention of the Rio Ferdinand sale when he was at West Ham.

These were undoubtably financially good deals for both clubs and in Ferdinands case, it was obvious he was destined for greater things, but doesn't it make the motive a bit blurred when the person deciding to sell make's a profit from it as well?

I find it disgraceful myself, talk about a conflict of interests.

Holloway had a similar deal at Blackpool, did he hold on to Adam to try and get more money for himself? Adam eventually left for less money than Liverpool originally offered so Blackpool lost out.

It's totally wrong imho and shouldn't be legal.

It's reported he put the cash in an account in Monaco in his dog's name.

Headline in the SUN newspaper :

Harry ' Gave the dog a bung'

Classic  :thumb:
'If you didn't have a wasted youth you wasted your youth'

Man in pub circa 1987.

Poor old Harry cannot read or write :?

Redknapp, 64, said: "I am completely and utterly disorganized. I am not going to fiddle taxes, I pay my accountant a fortune to look after me."
He added: "My accountant runs my life. I do not receive my wage slips, they go straight to him. I do not see bank statements. I've a big problem - I can't write."
He added: "I write like a two-year-old and I can't spell".
In tape recordings played at Southwark Crown Court, Redknapp said: "I can't work a computer, I don't know what an email is, I have never sent a fax and I've never even sent a text message.

Well, one word he might have learned in his life is the four letter word "BUNG"

Seeing he lives in a multimillion home in Sandbanks Poole, with waterfront moorings. He probably thought "BUNG" was something to do with boats

I live about half a mile from Ol' Arry and went past his house yesterday....no "for Sale" boards up yet :P

Just around the corner, along the coastline, we have Old Harry Rocks, a famous coastline rock formation...maybe he looks across the harbour at the rocks and thinks...hope I don't hit 'em :P

Yes, you've got to feel sorry for him. All of those moorings, and not a boat in sight. Maybe industry should buy him a yacht for those special occasions.
:run:
Championship Plymouth Argyle 1 - 2 Leeds Utd

Points 46; Position 23 RELEGATED

A speedboat to France might come in handy in a couple of weeks.

He's certainly going for the sympathy vote - but a google search shows he isn't quite the simpleton he implies, what with building developments et al.

And also, if he's such a muppet that he has to place all his trust in his accountant, why didn't he tell him about the Monaco account? Ah, silly me, it was his dog's!

Unfortunately not :( There is a strip of land between where we live and the peninsula that sorts out the millionaires and the peasants! Although there is some compensation...no traffic jams in the summer where I live :) Harry lives the right side of Sandbanks where it is big enough to moor a huge boat. The other side is beach, so no moorings. I live about a 5 min drive, down the strip on the mainland, no beach :( Very ordinary :) Know what I mean 'Arry!
