Hua Hin to Surin

Post by kendo »

Just planning for March, can we get a VIP bus direct to Surin from the old bus station with an advanced booking or is it into bangers first.

Also does anyone know a sensible mini van driver that could take us from Hua Hin to Surin, on a direct run, and not to expensive we have a couple of numbers that are now not in use, we have done this road trip many time's so we know what's involved please PM me.

kendo.

VIP bus from the new bus station to Korat and Korat to Surin is how we always do it.

No need to go to Bangkok.

they have diffrent times and the buses are mint.

There you go Kendo, sorted, we actually go to Buriram station as it's nearer than Surin station to where we want to get too.

They are good buses.

Thanks guys i think we will use a VIP bus have used them heading south two years ago to Samui.

The Mrs recond's not that much difference in time up to Surin and a lot safer than a mini van.

last year i made a monumental cock up, we got a taxi to DM and took a flight to Surin airport which turned out to be 180 km from our house, the complete opposite direction from Kap choeng.

I think you'll find that it's actually the VIP bus to Ubon Ratchathani, which also stops in Surin.

As an aside, do these Long Distance (or short for that matter) VIP buses have toilet facilities?

Yes they do. There are many different types of bus calling themselves VIP - helps with price setting but the newer VIP buses and certainly those plowing the Hua Hin - Korat/Ubon Ratchathani route offer such services.

Spot on - are there any particular services/companies? Apologies Kendo - I'm hijacking your thread somewhat. Seriously though, fancy doing the same trip myself, so wondering regards to the buses. Will send you message regarding the driver(s) we have used for the past 4 or 5 years - not the cheapest, not expensive, but certainly safe - and that to me is the main point.

There is only one company to my knowledge going Hua Hin to Korat/Ubon Ratchathani. Don't know the name. They leave from the new bus station just past MV. They also have services to Chiang Mai and Phuket from there.
Another company with buses in Thailand that has a very good reputation for the quality of its fleet is NCA.
They divide their services up into economy, silver, gold & first. Their gold and first are excellent imo.
First even has seat back videos. They have their own terminal in BKK near Mo Chit and have routes all over the country. Be careful though as they can run their different brands on the same routes and some of their economy buses do not look too wonderful

Nakhonchai air - NCA. Good company if vip buses are used as posted above but it is not the company running buses between Hua Hin and Korat/Ubon which is also a good company with new buses.
