My first reaction to that place HHF was ''ChiangMai is just the kind of place to establish a retirement home for expats'. It has a very well established expat community for starters - much more so than HH. It even has an expat cemetary! Good on'em I thought.
Oh dear. Wrong. No smoking. No drinking in communal areas. No pets. No 'visitors'. But hey - the opportunity to offload the elderly relatives when the going gets tough? How condescending is that. It sounds like hell in the sun.
Let's hope that whenever HH does get it's retirement living sorted properly it is done with a little more respect for people as individuals, and less of the 'Carry On Matron'.
