↑ That will do the trick. Just roll over weekenders double parked in front of 7-11. The 650-750 are really commercial trucks, the one in the photo being a custom job. I think they only have diesel engines. I did find though that the 250 and 350 still do exist, still with an available huge V-8 as well. The F150 is still the most popular it seems. Pete

Here is the new Isuzu D-Max BB. I recall you mentioned that you were comfortable with the interior room of the D-Max. Sharp looking truck. Pete

It looks a nice motor, but I'd have to check out that central console - it looks a bit restrictive to somebody who's 6'5 feet tall. I might have to cut off my left leg

I watched Top Gear's Polar Expedition (from 2007 I think) the other day. This specially adapted Hilux took them to the North Pole!

The programme's worth a look if you get the chance (and if you like "men behaving badly" and boys' toys) - I downloaded it from TheBox.

The handmade tyres cost about 130,000 baht... each...
This is the way

Yep, remember seeing the show, and the series they did with the ''indestructible'' Hilux. As I've said before on the thread, I've had the use of a Hilux previously on long term projects (2 yrs +) in Thailand, and to me they are the Dog's B*ll*cks.

I don't think so IMO. They're smoothing out the boxy lines that were prevalent for years, and if anything they're beginning to look more like what is sold in North America. That goes for Ford and Toyota a well. Especially the front end which is beginning to get a heavy duty look. Pete

Is it me or are all these new trucks looking like the same shape as the current Vigo - at least from the windshield back?

Loved that Top Gear Polar Expedition - gotta say this influenced my choice of buying a Toyota (in case I ever want to hoon around in some snow) :)

Mazda's new BT-50 Pro runaway success

http://www.bangkokpost.com/business/mar ... ay-success

Published: 14/02/2012 at 12:00 AM
Newspaper section: Business

Mazda received more than 4,000 bookings, almost triple the monthly goal, for its all new BT-50 Pro pickup truck in the first two weeks after its official launch.

The unprecedented level of orders is credited to its passenger-car design, as well as the star power of the vehicle's presenter, Army celebrity Maj Wanchana Sawasdee, who played the lead role in the recent King Naresuan film series.

Mazda said the BT-50 Pro represents a milestone in local pickup history thanks to its passenger-car design and sporty driving performance.

The company says the previous image of pickup trucks in Thailand will be erased as the model provides what other makes are unable to offer.

Choichi Yuki, the managing director of Mazda Sales (Thailand), confirmed brisk sales for the BT-50 Pro, officially launched on Jan 24.

''In just two weeks after the launch, we received more than 4,000 orders through our dealers. Some have already been delivered,'' he said.

Mazda also said its overall January sales grew by 27% year-on-year to 3,812 units including 3,097 Mazda2 subcompacts, 353 Mazda3 two-litre versions and 360 BT-50 Pros among others.

Both two- and four-wheel drive versions are available with prices ranging from 589,000 to 988,000 baht.
