Here come the Embassy warnings again no doubt....sad for the man and for the nation. Let's see if they pin it on the South, or the previous ME group they investigated last month, or something totally different. Perhaps the Farang was the target? :( Pete

UPDATE: Iranian bombs himself

http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/local/2 ... two-blasts

Published: 14/02/2012 at 03:44 PM Online news:

An Iranian man was severely injured when he threw a bomb at police that hit a tree and bounced back towards him and exploded in Bangkok on Tuesday afternoon, reports said.

Two bombs went off on Sukhumvit 71 road, injuring five people, including an Iranian man, the reports said.

According to a television news report, an Iranian man carrying a black bag hurled the first bomb at a taxi after the driver refused to accept him as a passenger. The cab driver was among the injured, reports said.

When police arrived at the scene, the foreigner then threw a second bomb at them, but it hit a tree and bounced back towards him and exploded. He lost both of his legs in the blast, the report said.

Klong Ton police said the explosions occurred about 2pm outside Kasempithaya School in Soi Pridiphanomyong 31-33.

Police were investigating and had temporarily closed Klong Ton and Phra Khanong intersections.

Initially, police were unsure whether there were explosives in the black bag.

The injured Iranian was later rushed to Kluaynamthai Hospital.

So, an Iranian with two bombs in his bag, presumably on a terrorist mission, wastes one on a taxi driver who refused to take him, without giving any thought to catching another cab or exposing himself and wrecking his mission.

This is making the news elsewhere.

The Jerusalem Post suggests that the incident followed an accidental explosion at a bomb making cell earlier in the day and a link to attacks on Israeli Embassies elsewhere:

Herald Sun here:

There are reports on most international web sites now.

And the MailOnline actually has photos of the bomber - minus legs - in the street. These pics are all over the internet news pages:

Maybe we shouldn`t be too bothered by the Iranian nuclear threat if this idiot is anything to go by.

Apparently, the reason that the taxi refused to take him was because he ran out of house that had just suffered an explosion covered in blood.
It seems that these Iranians were in the process of assembling magnetic bombs when they blew up their house and tried to escape.

I suppose it was only a "Knee jerk reaction"... to hurl the grenade at BKK police... and the fact he survived means by the time he faces justice...he won't have a "Leg to stand on".... in fact one can only assume he will have a lifetime now of "Short comings"....

Thai police will now have alot of "Leg work" investigating this... which should keep them on their "Toes"...but have the "One leg up".....in allowing Iranians into the country through immigration...I'm "going out on a limb" with this and it's purely speculative....

The Iranians clearly do not have proficiency in their tactics which is their "Achilles heel".... and now the "Shoe is on the other foot"....and Israel will seek revenge...."To boot".....

Just a "Foot note".... I'm sure there are other "Well heeled" terrorists ...."Kicking around" Bangkok... and I only pray that they are "Stomped" out....
