Transfering Halifax bank to Kasikorm Bank
Hi everyone, does anybody know the bank charges to transfer a thousand pounds sterling from my Uk Halifax bank account into my Kasikorm bank account in baht. .
To do it the other way was 1200 baht in Thailand then a further £20 pounds at this end.
Thanks for any info

Re: Transfering Halifax bank to Kasikorm Bank
If you find a way to move your money online with Halifax's online-Banking I'm sure it's only about £9..against £20 by telephone with them.
I also got stung by the BKK bank at this end..I transfered money across in Sterling, & BKK Bank charged me 1000B to convert it into Baht. (This may be the norm..so any money saved by getting a better exchange-rate at this end, than what shite rate Halifax offer you is soaked-up by BKK's 'fee'..
)
I also found out Halifax Bank is one of the worst banks to send money here with..!!
So many ex-pats I've talked to have all had problems with them..they just cannot do it without
f***ing-up! (I stopped using them after 3 messed-up transfers in a row!!
)
I now find a mate/customer coming over & transfer money from my bank into their UK account & he/she brings the cash over for me..so far this works well..
Chock Dee to you my friend..

From £7.50 plus any charges the Thai bank adds on according to this :

Can you clarify please? BKK bank was one of my preferred options when I move to Thailand.usual suspect wrote:If you find a way to move your money online with Halifax's online-Banking I'm sure it's only about £9..against £20 by telephone with them.

- was the 1000 Baht charged because the transfer was originated by the Halifax?
- do BKK charge that much for each transfer?

Re: Transfering Halifax bank to Kasikorm Bank
Unless it`s changed since last year Bangkok Bank uses a sliding scale for an incoming TT, which is capped at 500 Baht maximum regardless of the amount of the transfer. It has been so for the last 20 odd years that I have used it. I am not sure just what the charge is for small monthly TT`s as I only do it once a year.Big Boy wrote:Can you clarify please? Re: Transfering Halifax bank to Kasikorm Bank
we always get charged at the Thai end even though we opt to pay all charges in the UK.
Seems you can not cover it all.
When we are paying our service fees we have to add a few quid more to make sure we cover the fees.
not sure of the actual amount.

Re: Transfering Halifax bank to Kasikorm Bank
Good morning everyone.
New to the forum but I already know a few of you as I have been coming to Hua Hin for the past 13 years.
I wonder if fabman would let me know what rate he got from the Kasikorn as I have to transfer some funds soon. I get a bit confused about the rates posted on line by the banks TT etc on line and what certain companies in the UK promise to deliver.
Thanks very much indeed.
Back in Nov usual suspect for some of your splendid hospitality. Hope your all good mate

Re: Transfering Halifax bank to Kasikorm Bank
Here's a link to the screenshot from Bangkok Bank's website, from my experience Nereus is correct above in what he wrote about the 500 Baht charge. I've never noticed a charge in excess of this amount... LINK Buuuut, it mentions on item 4 about intermediatery banks' charges. I had transfers sent from Halifax to Bangkok Bank and found out Halifax's 'correspondent' bank (intermediatery!?) was Kasikorn. It was going to Kasikorn first, then they were sending it onto Bangkok Bank... 2x500 Baht???Big Boy wrote:Can you clarify please? Re: Transfering Halifax bank to Kasikorm Bank
I use caxtonFX fast pay to transfer money into my Kasikorn account. No fee on the caxton fx side, but the amount charged by Kasikorn appears to be just under 1.5%
I'm only transferring small amounts at a time so I don't know if this is capped at 500. There doesn't appear to be a minimum fee.
Hope that information helps.
