Precisely - Hull refused my initial visa application, yet we have evidence on the forum of others being accepted by Hull under the same circumstances, which has happened since my refusal.dtaai-maai wrote:The problem with any aspect of life in Thailand is the lack of a consistent approach by the authorities.

I don't really know how you can say this. I have I found the authorities here to be extremely consistent as far as inconsistency is concerned.

Not sure if you're agreeing with me or disputing.leoedgar wrote:The airline can and have to refuce you boarding if you don´t have a valid visa, and if you are going to a country, which require that you have to optain a visa before you come to this country. I came here 2 years ago without a visa, and no return ticket, no problem. Ok I only got 30 days visa at arrivel, but that´s not your case.

The first question I was asked at checkin with Thai airways was "How long are you going for". I replied a long time, and I was asked "You have visa?" I have a feeling that if I didn't have a visa, my one way ticket may have been frowned upon.

Anyway, to clarify: From the document entitled "One-way flight ticket to Thailand", sourced at the Hull consulate's website:
[/b]Please note that under Thailand’s immigration rules it is allowed for a foreigner to fly to Thailand on a one-way ticket only if they are in possession of a valid visa which they can present when they check-in for their flight to Thailand.
Without such a visa the traveller will not be allowed to board their flight to Thailand with a one-way ticket.
Re: Travel Without Visa
I think that a UK passport holder cannot get into Thailand on a single ticket, it has to be a return, I am pretty sure..maybe. A very helpful man is in the Thai office in Cardiff, his name is Mike, may be able to . Maybe try phoning him, he will give you some advice.Big Boy wrote:Unfortunately the Thai Embassy told me that I had to check, and Jet will not confirm ................ yet.Pleng wrote:Airlines can refuse you entry if you have a one way ticket and no visa. If it says this on the website, it looks ok then? As long as the visa is valid, no problem with entering. They only gave me 30 days last time, it is up to the immigration on arrival if you go down that road. After that the option is to enter then fly out to KL or Singapore etc and sort out the other part.

Re: Travel Without Visa
The problem is that my son does not need a visa - he will be travelling as a Thai, returning to Thailand. This is all going wrong because of Jet's reluctance to answer a simple question. I'm simply trying to cover all bases in advance because we don't want to be refused at check-in.

Exactly BB - so if Jet don't get back to you with an answer - and don't accept the Col - will he revert to travelling only on a UK passport? In which case surely he could be refused boarding without a visa! Which is where an onbound flight out of Thailand would be a kind of insurance, even if not needed.Big Boy wrote:The problem is that my son does not need a visa - he will be travelling as a Thai, returning to Thailand. Sorry if I'm getting this a..e about face but it is clearly worrying you.
BTW your move seems to have come round quickly - best of luck.

Re: Travel Without Visa
I think we're saying the same thing. I am now quite relaxed about what I need to do in the event of a negative response from Jet.

If anyone else will need to do the same, Hat Yai to KL is also a cheap one. I don't think it matters where from Thailand you fly out of the country.

Time for an update ....................
No reply to my requested e-mail was forthcoming. Therefore I tried phoning Jet Airways again. This time I got hold of somebody who didn't know, but was prepared to get off his backside to find out. The decision after a few minutes of consultation was that the CoI would be accepted if presented together with my son's British Passport.
Problem sorted (at least until we get to check-in on Sunday morning). Thanks to you guys, I have a workable plan B should we encounter problems. Much appreciated

Just to bring closure to this thread, I received an e-mail from Jet this morning advising that it would be OK for my son to travel with us to Thailand last Sunday
