I’ve just received info after logging on to my Lloyds internet banking, international money transfers are now free.
Unsure if this applied to sending sterling I phoned, I was told yes, sending Sterling to Thailand would be free but would have to be done via phone bank.
It seems slightly bizarre that they will do it for free over the phone but charge you for doing the job yourself over the internet. Certainly Lloyds charged me £10 for an internet transfer to Thailand earlier this week.
Sorry to disagree with you, but I have made 3 transfer since they announced they where dropping the transfer fees. All which have been free on Lloyds part. Yes your correct your Thai bank will charge you, but only amounts which the have always done.

Well bugger me, good link you sent, I will now get onto Lloyds TSB and ask for the GBP10.00 fee charged to me on 10 June to be refunded Steve G should also do the same.
Strange thing is the LloydsTSB web sites still state they charge 10 quid and they certainly charged me, see below
"It has been announced that from 30 May 2012, Lloyds TSB International will improve its offering for expats by introducing fee-free international money transfers for its new and existing Premier International Account holders."
It only applies to their International Premier accounts though.

It's only free if you do it through phone banking, not online if you do it online you still pay...............now go figure that one if you can
Yes I understand that and that it only applies to Premier accounts. With phone banking they get their kick back from the phone company based on the number of calls received per month, similar to phone in competitions, this is the main reason LTSB do not offer fulll internet banking, unlike HSBC and others.
I have a premier account and do phone banking and I was still charged 10 quid. I just finished a 20 minute call to LTSB, after being passed from one person to another all I could get was that they will look into it and that I should confirm my issue in writing by snail mail.

According to the blurb
Free international payments is only one of the benefits of our Premier International Account in Sterling, US Dollars or Euros.
and
Our International Money Transfer service is safe and easy to use online or via telephone banking.
So all international transfers whether online or via telephone banking from Premier International Account in Sterling, US Dollars or Euros should be free from any charge by Lloyds.
All very confusing! The one thing that stood out was the thing about sterling and now I can't find it - not that it will effect me, as a humble ordinary premier account holder!
