Moon smile and platoo

Post by Dr Michael »

There is a restaurant in town with a strange name see title--I think I have it right. On nights when everywhere else is empty, it is full--it is always busy--I think it may be Scandinavian--Any info.

On the Poonsuk strip. One of the best. Second on the left before you hit the temple entrance

It is most definitely Thai and the reason it is always busy is because the food is great, so give it a try!!

Platoo, or blaa-too, is not a Thai name, it is a small mackerel-type fish oft fried.
It is a very popular small cheap fish, so this restaurant probably sells it as their speciality (although I have never been there before).

I have eaten there several times. Not sure about the name of the fish, but it was delicious. Everything I've had was excellent there. Nice and cozy too. You sit where ever there is an empty chair. Usually joining 8-10 others sitting at the same table. Each time, I've been offered to sample some of what the others have ordered. Nice way to sample the menu.

Usually excellent, always busy. The place next door (Nana) is also very good.

Yep, there isn't a single word that isn't a "Thai name", I've met Nokias and Man U's.

Unless of course the restaurants custom is bearing your arse, grinning then getting served Mackerel.

I have a friend in Bangkok, Farang with Thai wife. Two sons..."Vegas" and "Casino." yes... every word has the potential to be someones name.
