We have visited this place a number of times recently. Excellent food and drinks at very good prices. Superb hosts and service. Soi 56 heading towards the temple on the right from the traffic lights. Big thanks to Easyas for introducing us to the place.

This is the bar that closed near the night market as reported in the topic the boat has sailed. Moved complete with fish tank! The photo was early morning before opening time.

And yes, it is just before the dinosaur market

Excellent Thai and Western food. Good coffee! Great breakfasts, although open from 10.00am only! Great cocktail list! Run by a very friendly Thai family who speak very good English. Manchester City supporters to boot (refreshingly not United, praise be!). Situated very close to Hua Hin's best fresh food market (Wednesday & Sunday) "Dinosaur Market"? . Soi 56 extension on the western side of the Klong. Dog friendly, farang friendly, car parking available (particularly important on market days - phone ahead and Tom will make a space for you if possible).

Forgot to say the Boat including its bar is open 365 days a year, except in a Leap Year when it is open 366 days!

I heard about this place from moja a while ago, but as we live south of town and this is in Borfai, we never made it to the restaurant until today when we had business in that end of town.

I have to say from our lunchtime experience today that this ranks as one of the top restaurants we've been to in the "value for money" category. Both the food and service were excellent for a very small price.

My wife had two Thai dishes, one seafood so one of the more expensive meals on the Thai menu, and I had the chicken schnitzel served with fries and a small salad. The missus loved both of the Thai dishes and gave them two thumbs up and the schnitzel was really good. It was a good quality chicken breast coated with one of the better batters I've had here on a schnitzel. It was also good to have the choice of chicken instead of the usual pork, which they also have. The fries were the thin and crispy "McDonalds" style, which I actually like a lot and the entire bill with three main dishes, a bottle of water for the missus and a bottle of Iced tea for me (would have preferred beer which is also priced very cheaply there but we had business in the afternoon) was only 280 baht.

Even though this is on the opposite end of town from where we live I think we will be returning frequently.

Glad you enjoyed it - it's still one of my favourite eateries/drinkeries. even though I've moved away a few kms. It's not Borfai though, is it? Coming from the South take a left off Petchasem Road at Soi 58, cross the railway line, keep going inland on Soi 56 and it's just a few metres on your right!

It's not in the old Bamboo Grove by any chance is it? Good to see the prices don't seem to have changed, and I'm looking forward to trying it next trip (and see how much 'Boat' has grown!)
It's just a shame it had to move from what was such a handy location. It used to be such a convenient place to meet up with people during the day - although the building had become very run down and a new kitchen was well overdue.
I wonder where expats head to now when in town, apart from the obvious slightly less English speaking place down the road from the old Boat

The Map above is about right but Boat restaurant is not quite as far up the road as indicated - it is before the Market on the right hand side.
