I haven't looked at the poll yet, but I can't believe that the people of this land I now call home are all so bad - we simply moan about the odd bad apple. Maybe I'll have to eat those words later when I read the poll results :munch:
Championship Plymouth Argyle 1 - 2 Leeds Utd

Points 46; Position 23 RELEGATED

For what it's worth, we have always got our deposits back in Thailand, and without any delays either. The only time I've been robbed was once when renting a place in the UK. We were expecting it though because the entire village had told us how tight the owner of the house was......lol.

@ the OP....................I wouldn't make too much of a fuss over 7,000 baht - just not worth it.

Thanks for all the replies and thanks to Matt for passing on the lawyer's phone numbers. My girlfriend will give her a call but as was said above, I don't think her thoughts or actions could help in any way.

I'll be forgetting it and moving on as suggested - the rant on here did me some good though. I forgot to mention that this was a short term contract of only 2 months because we took over another tenant's contract. The owner insisted on a new lawyer-written contract for the 2 months (at our expense) but earned nothing herself from it as we paid off the previous tenant as he had paid upfront. We would have signed a longer term deal at that time, so I don't know why she didn't take the opportunity to screw the previous guy given she could have taken rent from both of us for the same period and nicked some of his deposit too!

In hindsight the short contract gave us enough time to try the place out, so thankful we didn't sign up for any longer.

For the record I've rented twice before in HH. Both were for periods of over 1 year and deposits returned nearly in full with only small deductions for estimates of outstanding bills.
