Retirement visas & police records

Post by jon »

Hi all I have been reading comments regarding visa's multiple entry, retirement etc, what I would like to know is, it states over here in the uk that you have to declare any wrong doings ie police record, what would prevent someone retiring to Thailand.

I've just retired and moved to Thailand using the non-immigrant O route, and I haven't declared anything to anybody - not that I've got anything to hide.

I imagine they are screening Sex Offenders and Felons. So if you get the Police Report see what turns up and discuss this with the authorities. Should not be a surprise. But if you have lessor offenses, misdemeanors, IMO should not be a problem. Also looking for unresolved issues. Others may know more.
I wouldn't have to manage my anger if people could learn to mange their stupidity!

If you apply in your home country for a A-O visa then a police check is required; however if you apply for a 12 month extension of a non-O visa here in Thailand then no police check is needed.

Correct. I applied in Thailand for my extension and no record check was required.

Yes, I think that is also what I was saying.
