Bars open tonight 22nd June 2012

Post by PAFC »

Hi all,

Does anyone know if any bars are opening tonight and selling alcohol with the elections on again? I have heard different stories - some people saying yes and some saying no.

Thanks in advance.

Well I heard it 'from the horses mouth' today from a Binta owner that they were shutting until Sunday. Knowing the way things usually work you may find a bar technically shut with the shutters half down and the BG's sat eating outside but inside may be accessible. Across the tracks of course is a different story

tonight was strange, normally theres always plenty of bars serving unofficially but I only found one that would serve me in a coffee cup. There were 4 policeman sitting on the benches outside Lucky Lukes and the policeman that normally is plain clothed was in full uniform of some sort. You can only assume someone somewhere applying pressure.

I have clearly hit an unlucky streak and should keep a closer eye on this forum because for the second time in a month I decided to go out on a Friday night for a few beers and listen to some music only to find the bars closed. Very disappointing for me but what do these closures do to the local economy and the bar owners turnover ?

Sorry, I also meant to ask where "across the tracks" is?

I also note with frustration that NO alcohol is being sold in Makro, Market Villa and the like until after the elections.

I think you should be ok if you stock up in the day time (aside from the usual 3-5 sillyness). Anyway, the smaller shops won't hesitate selling to you. And Family Mart are pretty good, too.

Scratch that; looks like the big shops are also not selling throughout the day today. I guess the ban must have come in force at a certain time last night, then.

I'm informed that bars will be reopening tomorrow morning.

I found out by chance what "other side of the tracks is". Driving around this afternoon and called into a 7/11 where I was able to a bottle of wine. Then realised it was over the railway track from Hua hin centre.......Doh!

They have told us it is okay to serve alcohol today (23/06) from 9 or 10 pm.
Earlier it was 6 pm but it has been extended a few hours as there can still be voted I believe.

Jose..something might have been 'taking place' in HH last night..on the Pala-U Rd at 6.00pm there were about 20 Police officers stopping/checking traffic both in & out of town..that MAY be why the plain-clothed MIB (yes I know him also) was in uniform..?? :?
