HR 'He is the best tactician I’ve ever known. If he had to change it, he would. Roy does not do that.'

That's a joke quote:

2-0 up at Arsenal 35 minutes in and even before that being completely overrun in midfield. He said after the game I was waiting till half time to change things, we all know what happened 2-2 at h/t. Joker!
Diplomacy is the ability to tell a man to go to hell so that he looks forward to making the trip

Paul "Sacchi" Merson. Football mastermind. I must've missed his column calling Ronaldo a bottler.

Zidanes Avatar is a beauty, I might have the Hodge facerub gif.

Welcome to Roy everybody, he's all yours.

Italy will not get the time & possession they had against us v the Germans.
Having watched all the German games & think they'll win quite comfortably
So I decided to go 2-1 to the Germans. :cuss: :banghead:
:lach:
That's why i'm where i am in the league table

The Germans just didn't get going & i suspect a bit of over confidence, bordering on arrogance was to blame :|
Fair shout to the Italians, they played well, took their chances & defending superbly

If you want any tips on during the new IKTS season, just let me know

I don't think it was over confidence nor arrogance, it was purely inexperience. They are a young team and will be hard to beat in years to come.

I thought the Germans would smash them tbh, don't know if I overrated the Germans or underrated the Italians.

We need to copy the German blueprint though, we're 10 years behind Spain and Germany. Italy have been brilliant, don't think they are the formula though.

Most of that side got to the world cup semi finals in S Africa thrashing us 4-1 & Argentina 4-0 along the way :(
They qualified for EURO 2012 with a record of played 10 won 10, scoring 34 goals & conceding just 7.
They then qualified from the toughest group in the tournament (Denmark/Portugal/Holland) with a played 3 won 3 record.
They cruised past the greeks in the 1/4 finals.

So while i would agree they are a youngish side (average age 25 if you discount Klose  ), they have had plenty of playing experience between them :|

PS i think the arrogance description was a little bit to harsh!

Well, anyways, it can happen to any team. Just look at the Russians dan the Netherlands. Spain were close to exit. That's why football is so great, it's like a box of choclate, you'll never know what you are going to get.

As regards the Final.....surely Spain have to start with a recognised striker upfront (Pedro or Torres) ?
Otherwise, they are going to get loads of possession again but will never score.
Could be another 0-0,extra time,penalties......unless Mr.Balotelli has other ideas....

I'm surprised Llorente hasn't got alot more time, quality player.

I'm with BG on the Germans, very good side at a goodies age, they'll be in the mix for the next 2 or 3 tournaments.

Why am I reading that Hodgson defied all odds and exceeded expectations?

We got out of a group containing Sweden and Ukraine. Whoopee doo.

Excellent, thoughtful article here by Jamie Carragher - really worth the read. Some interesting comments to follow the article as well.

BaaBaa, you really should ignore the red tops!

Yeah, Carragher is very knowledgeable and I've been reading his articles, Benitez has been writing some superb ones for The Independent too and on his website. I didn't post them up as I'd get accused of banging on about Benitez.

I rarely read the red tops, I just see what morons like Merson have written when it's mentioned on forums.

There's very little intelligent football stuff out there, Benitez website is one and The Anfield Wrap podcast is another, although that's obviously Liverpool centric.
