Hello HH Forum!
Hello HH Forum!
Hi fellow HH and Cha Am-ers,
I just registered so this is my hello post. Looks like I nearly turned it into a novel. Sorry bout that.
I'm a fairly old Thailand hand approaching double digit years living here. I'm originally from the US, California (the reasonable part), but I'm brand new to Hua Hin. I was living in Cha Am for 6-months but I had to move to HH to be closer to my responsibilities here. I really miss Cha Am, it's much more laid back and I'm not here for the regular tourist attractions. I live on the North side of town, North of the palace. I'm about to turn 40, most people think I look 50 and I feel even older because of the crazy, but interesting, life I've had. My friends have mostly been older than me until I started getting old heh.
I really need to make some long-term friends here who are interested in intelligent and stimulating discussions. Also, I really would like to find an exercise / fitness partner. I do drink socially but I believe that drinking is a poor foundation for a friendship! I almost never drink at home unless I have company over.
You will probably not find me in the bars around the Hilton unless it's someone's last day in Thailand and I have no choice. I'm no prude mind you but I hate going it alone and it takes the girls very little time to learn that I speak the language and know how the game is played at which point they lose all interest and so do I. Actually, having the same lame conversations down there over and over is terribly boring too but I know people don't go there to chat. I however I don't really get aroused anymore without some kind of mental connection.
Anyways, I love talking about politics, world events / current affairs and science. I've had a very diverse life and worked in a number of fields. I've been very fortunate to have time and money to pursue many personal interests. As per the nickname I chose I'm an acquired taste but everyone who has stuck it out with me has good things to say about who I am on the inside. Outside is pretty rough right now as you may be able to tell from some of my posts elsewhere on the forum. I'm trying hard to change this but failing spectacularly.
I've been meaning to get involved here at HHF since I moved to Cha Am so I'm glad to be a part of the online HH community now. You all seem very positive, polite, reasonable and respectful people here. Such a pleasant departure for the Thailand discussion forums I'm used to.
I hope to hear from those of you who might want to get to know someone like me and I look forward to participating in the forum with all of you.
P.S. I can't send PMs yet. Hopefully I'll have enough posts today to be able to use the PM feature.

Welcome to the forum Cing Jai. You will be able to use the PM feature when you have reached 10 posts.
Regarding your other questions, there is a doctor who visits Bangkok Hospital on a Wednesday - you will need an appointment. AFIK there is nothing else available this side of Bangkok.

Hi there Cing Jai,
A warm welcome aboard .
And yes you have joined a great forum.
Sorry to see you have defected to the southerners though , not that there is too much wrong with them but they are a rag tag mob.
Rest assured CJ you will always be welcomed back by the good folk of Cha-Am anytime .

If you are doing a get together please not 9th August to 5th Sept. I'm in Blighty

As Confusious say (but only in Western mythology), "You can please some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time, but never all of the people all of the time".richard wrote:If you are doing a get together please not 9th August to 5th Sept. I'm in Blighty
It's a bit akin to..."Miracles we do immediately, the impossible takes a lttle bit longer"; so JW just do your own thing and we will catch up later.

Re: Hello HH Forum!
Sounds like a plan!
Re: Hello HH Forum!
Hey Guys! Thanks for all the warm welcomes!
I'm thrilled my hello thread is straying into organizing a meet-up! The first couple rounds are on me then!
Richard told me there are forum meet-ups and activities from time to time. I took a look in the Events forum. Didn't see anything right away but I need to read more in there.
Anyways, yea, let's do something soon and another in July/August when aragon is back!

More details to follow... I'm thinking about starting a thread in the events forum to get ideas flowing.
deepee, I'll be back. Both my girl and I love it there. Fish on the North side is always good and we like Quiet Beach down South of Nong Chaeng. I'd love to find more hidden gems there from a seasoned local. I didn't have any friends that left the mooban when I lived there so nobody ever really showed me the local places. Man do I miss that market though!

Hey I just read my original post and I don't like some of it. I sound full of myself and didn't mean to come across that way. I'm not always so serious and need an editor sometimes too. I like good times as much as the next guy so somebody toss out a date. What say you to next weekend, Friday or Saturday?

Hi there, I knew a traveller2 in another forum lifetime but he moved back to Memphis if I remember right. Could it be you?traveller2 wrote:Welcome Cing Jai. Im sure you will find plenty of new friends on here who also like stimulating conversation.

I love that quote / saying. There's a bit more to it if it's the WW2 Seabees motto... "With willing hearts and skillful hands, the difficult we do at once, the impossible takes a bit longer, miracles by appointment only."aragon wrote:"Miracles we do immediately, the impossible takes a lttle bit longer"
