Two nights ago I was watching PPV UFC on channel 110 which was scheduled to run from 10:30 pm to 2:00 a.m. At midnight right in the middle of a fight the screen switched to some dumb ass channel called Trace sports....... and immediately the channel guide changed 110 to say Trace Sports. The Channel 110 programs have just vanished overnight!
Then, in an even more unbelievable maneuver they completely discontinued ANY NFL programming for this week.........WTF.
I called UBC and they said they have been unable to renew their contract with AXN so we will not have any UFC, NFL,NCAA, or NASCAR programming. I'm trying to remember what was on which channels, so my list not be completely accurate, but personally I just lost about 80% of my favorite programs.
Can any Americans seeing this please reply even if you don't watch sports? I would like to see how many of us there are actually residing in the Cha Am area....there don't seem to be too many of us.
Thanks!

Re: Sporting events dissappearing
True/UBC are a bunch of asxxxxxles, I enjoy NASCAR/UFC etc just the same as TIGR and they can just take it away and still charge us the same. Seiuosly considering doing away with UBC and going to the other system that runs by internet, the signal comes and goes but your not paying top dollar for it.

Re: Sporting events dissappearing
Yes, my ASN is gone as well over here in Rayong. No notice, no nothing from them....just full stop and that TRACE crap substituted. The only live NFL now will be the playoffs and maybe the Super Bowl on ESPN. What pisses me off most is that they just sneak in the cancellation and say nothing to their customers. "Unable to renew.." is BS also. There was a rate increase and TRUE has simply refused to pay it. Cheap bastards.

Here's the announcement from ASN......not from TRUE of course.

I am surprised there is not more people expressing outrage at (non)True Visions lack of service. I enjoy watching American football and paid for the premium package to watch ASN. I wonder how many people, like me, have cancelled their premium package?
Has anybody any ideas of how I can view American football?

I think you've answered your own question. People are expressing their outrage in the most effective way, by cancelling their subscription and finding an alternative.
And as the internet develops there are more and more alternatives.

UFC is the biggest loss IMHO. It has been growing in popularity and shows some tremendous contests. Not sure yet where THE best UFC site is to watch online but just watched the Frankie Edgar v Gray Maynard 3 fight on mixedfightvideos dot com. I connect my TV to the laptop and find the picture quality is better.

Re: Sporting events dissappearing
Just an FYI, ASN has reappeared on True Visions on channel 114. I saw no announcement and don't know if we'll have American NFL this coming season. Anyone has more info, please post. Pete

Re: Sporting events dissappearing
Thanks for the heads up on 114, I hadn't noticed. I've been watching UFC lately on Channel 45.
The only boxing I really wanted to watch this year was Manny Pacquio last month but haven't found it anywhere. Now that I think about it there really haven't been many fights since ASN went dark....maybe we'll get more now.
I signed up last year for the NFL package on the computer for $250 (NFL.com) and watched every game I wanted to. Blackouts aren't an issue with the premium package as you can watch any game after the live broadcast. Because of the time difference I watched most of them after the live broadcast anyway. They had two formats last year, the full broadcast and a version with every play but all of the blabbing in between was cut out so you could watch a whole game in much less time.
Also, I got an app for my Galaxy 10.1 tab which was really great as then I could watch anywhere I wanted to, not stuck in front of the computer. I wasn't sure wireless would work with all the concrete in the condo but it works great and the speed wasn't an issue. I've got a media player but don't have the technical expertise to know whether or not I could somehow feed the signal to it and watch on the big TV.....would love to know how if anyone knows whether it can be done or not.
Because we don't get the bandwidth TOT advertises the signal was often less than optimum, but still pretty watchable on a small screen......When I got good bandwidth it was really great. The playoffs and Super Bowl were, I think, an extra $75 or something....sorry, forgot the exact amount.
I'm going to do the same this year no matter what UBC does as I got to watch any game I wanted to with the NFL package on my own schedule.
By the way, I managed to find what may have been the only DVD recorder available anywhere around here in a little shop in Cha Am about three weeks ago.....only 3,600 Baht but It was four years old (still new in the box) and then it didn't work. (what a surprise, this is my third one in six years) Rather than pay more than $300 for one from America I took my chances and let them send it to the LG service center.....it came back yesterday. Yea !!! Sometimes it pays to be stubborn.
