I thought Dreambox was the box used by the illegal satellite providers / users and nothing to do with Truevision?

We had dream box and was told that it would soon be shut off ... but there is the option of a kind of dream box HD that we bought from a well known store in Hua Hin. I guess I cant mention on the forum could cause all sorts of "Big K" problems. Last night true to the TRUE advice 11pm shutdown but 9am although all channels are in a different order to the listings we still have at least half the programmes.... How long that will last is anyones guess. Somewhat reduced in "Quality" TV viewing LOL

I've always found Big Keang an excellent place for all kinds of stuff, furniture, white goods, etc. Good prices, good service, good delivery, good after-sales service.
This is the way

Lost my UBC this morning and was told got to have the new box by True Visons at the bottom of the Night Market. Bit fed up because only bought a new box less than a year ago, by never mind eh ;-) Anyway went to the shop opposite the Dinasour Market and paid the 4500 baht and will be installed tomorrow fingers crossed. Does anyone know whether you can have cable at the same time as UBC because that would do for back up.

Yeah, Big K is one of my favorite places. We got our TV stuff from Index years ago but it was a different ball game. Like an imbecile I thought those little green cards were part of the UBC service......duh.

We got our UBC back this morning and I don't see much difference except there are, as promised, a few more HD channels.

Sorry but this change to digital was doomed from day 1 IMO. Too many competing companies not working together - too fast - too little info. In short typical Thai rip-off.
Thank buddha for once for the relatively smooth and inexpensive transition here in the UK, which actually cost me zilch because i'd already bought an HD ready TV beforehand. A quick re-tune and sorted.

Hats off to True though - perfect timing to interfere with any Olympic coverage and encourage sales of new boxes pronto... don't you guys all have cable as well?

No way that I am standing up for True, but this conversion has been well advertised since around February of this year. You do not need a HD TV set to watch any programs. A standard SD TV just shows the HD as SD. This replacement of boxes is to facilitate the broadcasting and receiving of HD, which has to be seen as a step forward.

Mags, most of us don't have access to cable around here........I know of some in Kao Tao and HH but certainly not Cha Am or newer areas of HH. Don't know about anywhere else but I assume there's lots of it available in Bangkok.

Correct except you dont say to receive HD you MUST have a HD TV

therefore if your TV is SD you get exactly the same PLUS a 2,000bt bill
which has to be seen as a step forward.
If you want HD and If you have an HD TV probably yes

but if you dont want or dont have an HD tv its a dead ringer for a rip off

as for it being well advertised not around here it wasnt

I am still waiting for the guy who was sure to come today to change my box its 1705 pm :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
