Best evening meal for 100bt

Post by uncle tom »

OK, lets have some nominations for good value dining.

Must be easy walking or cycling distance of centre of HH - say 2Km, and must be enough to keep the average bloke fed until breakfast.

I'll start off - street vendor (if you can find him...) 10 x 10bt kebabs (chicken and pork) with a dip of ketchup..
I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I shall be sober and you will still be ugly...

Get out of the main Bintablock area, and you have your choice of loads of places. Even within that area, you can get a hearty feed from the likes of Bam Bams for that sort of money.

Agree in general BB but a Grapaow moo is gonna cost you 80 baht at bam bams, the other 20 baht doesn't add up to a "hearty meal" and i'm friends with the owners.

The little night market around Soi 55 area. Nam Tok or Grilled Pork, Som Tam and Sticky Rice. Though you're probably looking at 120bt.

KFC do a variety of meals for 90bt.

There is a small, clean local Thai place just opposite the Cha-Ba Chalet hotel on Sra Song road that is good value and has has a pretty extensive menu. To fill two people you would probably be between 200 and 300 bt but it's good food for the price and cleaner than some of these type of restaurant.
Another one that comes to mind is a stall type restaurant that appears on the pavement opposite the Palace every evening.

So am I - my daughter worked with them, when it was just a proper Thai food place located under a big tree outside the temple wall (long before they built walls around the restaurant). :neener:

Seriously, if the OP's budget is 100 Baht, he doesn't say that he's looking for anything special. You can get more than enough at Bam Bam's for 100 Baht to keep you going until the morning.

Pad See Ew at Kims is 45 baht IIRC. It's a big plate of comfort food. On east side of Train Ave about half way between the station and soi 88.

All-you-can-eat barbecue on the Pala-U road - 99 baht (forget the actual name). Of course, no drink at that price but we are talking food. Lots of it.

Pad means stir fried, Khao is rice.

See ew is chinese for soi sauce,so the literal translation is stir fried soi sauce.
