Tour de France

Post by STEVE G »

'Les Brits' dominate the tour-"Merde!"'
I know that this event doesn't get much attention elsewhere but here on the continent it's by far the biggest sporting event of the year and not so long ago a race like this would have been like France winning the cricket world cup!

I must admit that for the first time I have managed to watch most of the stages, mainly because a Brit was favourite. The viewing was made much more enjoyable by the knowledgable commentary on ITV4. And the scenery makes me want to re-visit France!

Yes, team road racing is a lot more tactical than people realise and the British Sky team have controlled this race from day one in a masterful fashion.
Wiggins gained a lot of respect here when here regulated the pace on stage 14 following the mass punctures as it's considered bad form on the tour to benefit from technical failures and the only rider who took advantage was a Frenchman who should have known better!

After todays finnish I asked an old French guy in my local pub here what he thought about an Englishman winning the tour and he just shook his head and said, "The world is upside-down"!

I read that Bradley Wiggins is being investigated for tacks avoidance.

RICHARD OF LOXLEY

It’s none of my business what people say and think of me. I am what I am and do what I do. I expect nothing and accept everything. It makes life so much easier.
