Those Suzuki Swifts are popular over here in continental Europe, probably because they're about half the price of a Mini!
They are a pretty similar styled design when you see them in the flesh.

Yes, my point indeed. When you see one decked out in 2 tone and accessories, you do a double take and a head snap.STEVE G wrote:Those Suzuki Swifts are popular over here in continental Europe, probably because they're about half the price of a Mini!

I'm not really disagreeing with you. They're very popular in the UK as well. I've often mistaken one as a mini as it approaches in my rear-view mirror. However, when you actually see the 2 together, they don't look similar at all.

Not bad looking if you're into small cars, and in my opinion, a better deal than a Mini which as far as I'm concerned, is simply way over priced. The Swift seems to be quite popular in Malaysia as well, which is where I first saw them. Haven't seen many about Hua-Hin though.

Reviving this light-hearted observation of Hua Hin's motoring scene to say that I have never seen as many posh wagons squeezed into such a small space as there was on Petchkasem Road yesterday afternoon.
Four solid lanes of brand spanking new SUVs and sportsters going nowhere fast stretching from the Takiab flyover into town. It must have been a good ten million baht per meter!

It is not a poor country. It is a country with a lot of poor people.

Re: The soi 51 rich kids car park
I not too sure there are a lot of poor people either. When I was in high school, there were perhaps 10 students in the school 50cc motorbikes, yet here in Thailand, just about every high school child rides a new motorcycle, and not bottom of the range bikes either. They also all seem to have the latest phones and etc.
Hell, I had to hand deliver newspapers on foot in order to save up money for a bicycle.

Yes, Takiap, every high school student rides a brand new bike. Those legions of Songtheaws I see daily, fit to bust with school kids, must just be illusions!

There is also a slight difference between Bangkok, Phuket and Hua Hin compared to Khon Kaen, Roi Et and Chaiyaphum.
