No, there have been no changes.
A Non O comes as either a single entry, good for one entry of 90 days or multi-entry, good for a year but you must exit the country every 90 days.
However, the criteria for issuance of either has been tightened up somewhat, at least in the UK.

If you're British and you qualify, ie married to a Thai or over 50 and have the right finances, then you can still get a Non O through a consulate.
Embassies are always the most difficult to deal with. Have a look at Hull's website and you'll see what you need to present there to get what you want and how to qualify.
If you do end up with a triple entry tourist visa, remember that each entry of 60 days can be extended here in Thailand for another 30 (cost 1,900THB). However, the visa itself must be valid to get your second and third entries and it will be so for 6 months from date of issue so don't apply too early or you'll almost certainly not get the full worth out of it.

Hi,

My appointment’s in Liverpool October 4th. It’s my intention to get a
3-month single entry O vise. I fly to BKK 8th October. I qualify, both being married to a Thai and being over 50 years.
My question, what and when do I need to do, in Hua Hin to get an annul extension? I will have the required funds in Place on deposit at the end of September.

 Ken

Within the last 30 days of your 90 day entry stamp, visit Imm with completed application form, 1,900 THB, various pages from your passport photocopied and proof of your savings in the form of your passbook and letter from bank, plus passport photos. NOTE: HH Imm are insisting that savings need to have been in the Thai bank for 3 months prior to application. Should be only 2 for first time, so be warned about their singular interpretation of the rules.
Savings are minimum 800K THB for retirement and 400K THB for marriage. The savings cannot fall below this figure during the 3 month seasoning period. If you need money to live on, bring more. If you have the 800K THB, Imm will pretty much insist that you apply for the retirement extension. That's actually easier to get in terms of paperwork and will be granted there and then. All marriage extensions have to be approved by BKK which is why local offices don't like dealing with them when the applicant has the option of retirement.
It's really quite straightforward. Fire away with more questions closer to the time and we can advise you of the whole paperwork situation.

Yeah, the non O visa seems to one of the last safe havens on the visa front these days. The noose is tightening on the rest and even the non O has had some too recently, as Lomuamart says. It'll end up in 5 or so years time that you need to be married or have dependents/children to get one and the other loop-holes will slowly be closed over time as they love to meddle and change the 'goal posts' on this stuff periodically.

But this visa will probable remain lax as long as you are married or have kids etc as otherwise they will end up upsetting too many Thais.
