Thais top the infidelity charts

Thai men are ranked on top and their women are ranked second as the world's most unfaithful lovers, with well over half of them admitting to frequent infidelity, according to a survey conducted by Durex, a condom producer.

Women from Thailand are ranked the world's second most unfaithful lovers, according to the survey report.

The survey of 29,000 women in 36 countries names the women of Ghana the world's most unfaithful, with 62 per cent of the women questioned there admitting they often cheat on their boyfriends and husbands.

Thai women were just a little more faithful, with 59 per cent admitting to infidelity, followed by Malaysia with 39 per cent.

In fourth and fifth place were Russia (33 per cent) and Singapore (19 per cent).

As for men admitting to extramarital affairs, Thailand came out on top (54 per cent) followed by South Korea (34 per cent) and then Malaysia (33 per cent).

According to the survey, Asian men were the most promiscuous in the world. Men in Singapore and Hong Kong had an average of 16 bed partners in their lifetime, while Malaysian men had about three.

Many Thai netizens posted their messages on Pantip.com, Thailand's popular internet forum, criticizing the survey.

One of them said the survey was not credible as people in every country committed infidelity and that the survey only asked a group of women who created a "good" name for Thailand.

Another poster said the survey was conducted by a condom producer who wanted people to buy more condoms because the result shows that their partners might be unfaithful and they need protection.

Comment - Seems this one is not going down too well........any truth in it? Well, Durex might have a unique slant on it and they have obviously released this on their sales data as well as the survey.....funny though and might not surprise a great many.

Blimey DM, are you sure? I would guess that this survey covers everyone from 'dek-wen' and 'sow-sa-koy' to the average middle class Thai of each gender. We have all heard/seen the horror stories for foreigners but also for Thais too if you have resided hear for a long time. Honesty still remains a rare thing here.....and many couldn't care less about anything these days (forgive my cynical diagnosis).

There are, of course, many success stories but there are plenty of nightmare scenarios too (for foreigners and Thais), hence the single mother population being so high here due to the male infidelity/apathy/absence so as to skirt responsibility..........and I can quite believe the results for the Thai men. Why are there lots of soapies in every town/city you go to?

I'm not telling you anything new....even if it's slightly cynical in many folks view.

As for us, I think this survey is reflective/indicative of why many Thai women want to marry a foreigner as the previous experiences with the indigenous guys have gone south and come to nothing probably due to the exact attitudes reflected in the survey's results.

I don't think they were interviewing Thai women that have foreign husbands even though I'm not saying none are guilty either.....seen it many times in 12 years.

I reckon that could be reflective...ish of the average Thai relationship and we all have to remember that for every successful relationship between a Thai woman and a foreigner then there are probably a few that didn't last due to whatever reason as many foreign men are also prone to infidelity too.

However, not laying-it-down, just speculating for the benefit of discussion....of course could be wrong in some guy's eyes....which is fair enough.

Regardless of that, how seriously can you take a survey that asks people if they are faithful in their relationships?
Do you honestly believe that the figures are either reliable or verifiable?
The whole survey can be no more accurate than my claim that Ghanian and Thai women are the most honest women in the world.
