Dogs, dogs, bloody effin dogs.

Post by lagojardin »

Is it me or does there seem to be a marked increase in the amount of soi dogs around the town?
I know this topic has been discussed before but I am getting seriously pissed off with the increasing packs of mangy, crippled angry dogs lurking about the sois. WHY does no one do anything about it? Every night I am wakened by a cacophony of howls, barks and high pitched yelps from these "vermin". Why oh why do the authorities not do something about it? Any ideas on ridding the sois of these packs?
Oh.. Don't get me started on the Thai pet dogs and their yapping !!

High Powered Ultrasonic Animal Repeller could be the answer for you.
I installed three for about six years ago and they work a treat, they claim a working range of 200m, but I think it’s about 100m.
They are now sold on Amazon.co.uk

WHY does no one do anything about it?
Because everyone thinks that someone else should do something about it.

Try putting a sign on your house "We buy any dog for 1000 baht" and then you can deal with them however you think they should be dealt with. A few hundred thousand baht and the problem will be gone, until the new puppies grow up and get dumped out on the soi. Repeat as required.

Several of my wife's family have them and we have installed them in most of our rental houses, so there are a fare few "animal free zones" now.

A healthy doze of mace will keep any dog away.

Yes, mace, pepper spray, tazers, stun guns, air rifle, poison, employing the local dog-catcher all are effective, but soon they return, whereas the ultrasonic repellent is effective all the time.

If the neighbours have well-behaved pets won't they also suffer whenever the device is operational?

I'm interested in the vehicle rodent repeller M186 that 'shorts' the vermin  but don't see it listed on Amazon. Have a little rodent damage in the engine compartment and I don't think camphor balls and WD40 sprayed in there is particularly effective. The website you posted requires a minimum order of 200 euro(!).

The system is operational all the time, there are motion sensor types, but I found them to be of little effect, so yes the area is an "animal free" zone.

I order them direct 300 plus euros the last order they don't deliver to Thailand, so I get them delivered to our Abu Dhabi office.
I believe there are some Chinese made units available here.

Hang on. So are you saying that any pets in people's houses within 100 meters will be affected? :?

If someone put something like this near myself that affected my Snoopy on a daily basis you can be sure the noise of dogs will be the last thing 'that' guy needs to worry about. :guns:

Trying to rid the streets of soi dogs is one thing. Harming people's pets is another.

I could not agree more; I had been about to write something similar myself!!

I must agree with the above post. While I'm the first one to admit I detest having so many street dogs about, I also wouldn't want to torture my own dogs and those of my neighbors. In fact, I think these devices should be banned in residential areas since there are almost always going to be people who keep dogs. My own dogs are well behaved and never cause a disturbance, so if I found out a neighbor was torturing them, they would lead a very miserable life as well.

Not having a go at you dozer, but just saying.

Yes, we have dogs and was thinking the same as well; surely projecting ultrasonic sound onto someone elses peoperty is no different from any other sort of sound that disturbs the peace. Any dogs retained on property within 200m are not going to be able to get away from it so they are going to go crazy.
