BBC Sports Person of the Year

Post by PeteC »

Is this poll coming up soon for 2012? The thought occurred to me that a choice this year will be tough given Murray with the Olympics and the US Open, Wiggins with the Tour de France and Olympics, your Triathlon girl, and so many others who won gold in the Olympics.

I do remember BB saying a few years ago with our in-house poll that Murray has an obnoxious personality, so will be interesting to see who the British people pick. I've never seen him interviewed. Pete

Is it 'Sports Person' or 'Sports Personality' - that could make a huge difference, especially in Murray's case.
Championship Plymouth Argyle 1 - 2 Leeds Utd

Points 46; Position 23 RELEGATED

If it's about personality, then to me the first face I will picture when I think of this year's sports would be Mo Farah, fantastic achievements too.

But Wiggins achievements are ridiculous, and he's cool, and he's a Red.

I'd have no qualms if Murray won it either, or Jess Ennis, just shows what a great year we've had.

I shouldnt let the name worry you - it is called the Sports Personality of the Year award, but most of the recipients received it for their sporting prowess rather than their personality, so Murray does have a chance!!

Wiggins and Cavendish will be cycling past my house on Friday in the Tour of Britain (along with Basso, Sanchez and other stars), so unless Murray comes and plays tennis in my back garden then my vote goes to Wiggins.

I saw Murray on the news yesterday siging autographs for all the children, apparently he vowed never to ignore youngsters as he was brushed aside by Andre Agassi when he was a kid. Respect, a true Brit.
