Waitroses are more ubiquitous than you think. I know of at least two here in Glasgow, and Lidls here are like 7-Elevens in Hua Hin.

Is it OK to freeze a hard cheese such as cheddar, or is it ruined/mushy when thawed out? Thanks. Pete

Freeze away! Will dry out and may become crumblier - best to grate first.

Good news, thanks. Some good UK and European cheeses are available at Foodland, Villa and Central near me, but not consistently. I was thinking of stocking up the next time I see them for any entertaining we may do over Christmas/New Year. Pete

Ok where can I find some Feta? My wife makes me a lovely spinach, feta and shrimp omlet but I am missing the main ingredient the feta. I have tried the two Mackro's and Tesco.

Try the Italian cheese factory on soi 10(?), just after HH hospital, turn left at XXL Burger.

EDIT (Yes, I know it's Greek  )

Why?

Am I missing something here?
Well, I've managed without one for my whole life and never resorted to buying pre-sliced.
I've got a widget i bought in Germany which has a handle affair like a cheese slicer, with a wire instead of a serated edge. Does a really good job on rubbery cheeses like Gouda. But with the Wensleydale it's usually just a case of breaking off lumps. It rarely all makes it into sarnies....
