Post by frank1957 »

You will need some form of proof of income of 65,000baht p/m which has been certified by the British Embassy in BKK or British Consulate in Thailand. I use my monthly private works pension pay slip.

You need a letter confirming income from your Embassy (minimum 65K THB a month). The proof they require varies, so you need to check with your Embassy.
In addition:
TM7 form filled in
Photocopies of passport pages - details, original visa, entry stamp, departure card.
Passport photo
Proof of residence
1,900 THB.
That should do it.
BTW, you're applying for an annual extension to a visa, not a retirement visa.

From a previous thread...........

Here's what the Embassy say...

'Thank you for your email.

For one year retirement visa, you need to have income/pension at least THB 65,000 per month or THB 800,000 in Thai bank account for at least 3 months before the visa is due.

Regarding the Pension/Income letter to the Thai Immigration, the Notarial Team needs:

1. to see the up to date, original supporting documents such as letters from pension providers or the print out electronic banking statements.

2. photo copy of passport ( only the page that has your photo and details on it)

3. the fee of 2250 for the letter and another 100 for the return postage (postal order cashable at Nana post office 10112 in the name of British Embassy)

4. contact phone number

5. summary of your income/pension

Calculated at what exchange rate?

I read this on the Thaiembassy.com

MEETING THE FINANCIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR A RETIREMENT VISA:

Financial Requirements are as follows:
• Bank Account showing THB 800,000
• Monthly income of at least THB 65,000
• Combination (Bank Account + Income x 12 = THB 800,000)

Is the 800,000 or 65,000/month per person, or for a married couple?

Mrs M is Thai, but I'm curious, for a married Falang couple it would be 130,000 bt/month?

If the married couple are both non-Thai then the usual process is for one spouse to get the retirement extension based on the requirements above and the other to get an annual extension as a dependent (no need to prove income/savings). Therefore, they only need to prove income/savings once.

Lomu, how about you go back to the first line of your first post and correct the amount. (65k THB per year), before somebody believes it.

I take it NO appointment is required to get this proof of funds letter certified from the Embassy.
Show relevant paperwork in the morning, collect letter 1400 hrs, Nana Plaza for Happy Hour!

That's right, lippy45.
Drop off evidence in the morning (before 11am) and collect between 2-3pm. I've always been in and out of the Embassy in the mornings within 20 mins.
Note: It's different on Fridays as I'm pretty sure the consular office is closed in the afternoons. Have never been up on a Friday.

Lomuamart: As ever Thanks for
the quick response!

Looks straight forward on the website. I
will be in BKK for a long week end
so makes sense to visit the embassy.
I wander how reliable / turn around
the postal option is ??

Yes Friday afternoon it's closed,
11 to 12 for collection.

Have never got the letter by post but other members have. Hopefully they'll reply. I think the service is reliable.
