sandemb, you need to brush up on your own homework. As far as I'm aware, you can't teach on an Education visa, you can only study. :D
And one or two qualifications will be needed for a teaching job.
This is the way

Hiya, I'm on the gold coast and its incredibly sticky. Getting me prepped for the Thai summer. Fortunately for such a short time span in the great scheme of our lives ( i'm not 40 yet) we will not need to work there to fund it, I'm just a bit annoyed/gobsmacked that I can't send hub off to work in an orphanage, or build stuff for people for free. Surely his manual labour is of benefit without him needing to be paid? Does anyone know of a way around that one?

I want the the ED visa because Put Thai Nid Noy and it should be "my be bun ha" to continue along that track. Hbs quite interested in the language too.

I have always found forums when making decisions as its soo much better to speak with "those on the ground" then those who think they know about everything and no nothing, lol.

Righty bbq on the beach on the coast today, I have been looking at the rentals online and am loving what i see. Guess i have to walk through to get a real feel though, my gut is what'll win it.

Trying to get to my 10 posts because people have PM's me and I can't read them, lol.

The kids are Very excited. The 9 yr old Lili googled how much it would be to buy a pet monkey and I made her read the most important one that said, they live for 30 years and most pets end up being put to sleep because of people who don't take care of them, so she changed her mind and asked if she could "rent" one, bless her socks.

They Phenonmanial (sp) kids and I can't wait to share this journey with them before they get to be teenage broady and sullen.

On a food note, they both tried a fairly hot duck larb yesterday and came back for seconds..;. YAY!

I did tell her that she could rent an elephant but have to clean up after its poo, shes also quickly changed her mind about Pet ownership.

I can not make up my mind between Condo living and house living. The convienence of condo living versus house would be alot better for not having to cut grass etc etc however we are Big proportion people and I'm not sure how thats going to work.

Our budget for rental is roughly 25,000- 30,000 a month and from what I see, this is achievable, Hub says " we're not going to LIVE in our house" in other words, we are going to prob be everywhere BUT home, beach/laos/vietnam/bangkok/eating. He doesn't even think we're going to need a kitchen ( such a thing as a ktichenless house?)

But how then does one put vegemite on ones childrens toast in the mornings?

And the only other bit of my confusion is the education of the kids, does anyone homeschool though their countries online services? I was talking of hiring a "minder" - which to me is someone who has english language skills, to stay with the kids whilst they do their school work and make them stay on task (attention span of sandfly- our children) but I am not sure what this would do/not do for their education. I do think that at this age, a year out of their schooling entirely and living in thailand would teach them more about themselves and the world at large than they will ever learn in a class room, but then this may be one of my wonderful weird philosophies which are completely not based in reality.

You wong get much space in a condo for 30k, under 100sqm and 2 beds, this price is hard to get and defo not in high season. House more room for sure.....no kitchenless houses and really i am sure u would use one evrn if just to prepare ur bbq stuff. :)

for your visa, email a language school and get them to send you a letter for you and hubby, accepting you for there thai language classes.Take these letters to the thai embassy in brisbane(near mater hospital)for about $250 each ask for 2 multi entry visas 12months +3months,your kids only need the normal 30day tourist visa on arrival,no charge for overstay for children under 12.You will need to cross a border every 90days(kids can stay in country). If the embassy in brisbane gives you a 12month multi entry visa, technically you won't have to get an ed visa and you can come and go as you like. This happened with my first visa,i didn't have to go to school.
I would suggest maybe staying at somewhere like sport villa for a month or so,not the condo but the townhouses at the back. They rent for about 18000mth short stay,2beds and fully furnished, has a swimming pool, restaurant gym and only a short songteaw ride to market village and hua hin centre. Also a short walk to beach across the road.
You can homeschool quite easily thru many online aussie schools, you can even do distant education where the kids can skype there classes. You don't need any skills to homeschool the kids yourself and classes only take about 3hours a day.

My apologies for slightly misleading info. Was actually talking about doing a TEFL course first (60 days I think), after which they will place you in a school and help you obtain the required visa, B or O. My intention is still retirement visa.
