Sorry  Probably my fault - I started off using them together with the likes of Makro and Tesco. Then through laziness, shortened it to Hua Hin Ham & Bacon, and then to HHH&B. The point I'm trying to make is that many of the things are available here in Hua hin already. This thread started off by talking sausages, and then moved on to what is not available in Hua Hin.

From what I can see, everything that is being used as not available, is actually available here.

If somebody wants to pay an extra 350 baht on their shopping bill, and then wait in the next day for it to be delivered, so be it. It still sounds like madness to me - my personal opinion, and that will not change.

Rubbish :banghead: This is Thailand. High prices generally have nothing to do with quality and no link with manufacturing cost.
Healthy competition usually sees too high prices fall and quality maintained or improved.
I have no doubt that HHH&B is very clean and would expect nothing less. I have bought and been satisfied with the quality of products I have purchased there in the past but not always the flavour or price. This is my personal opinion.
I am fairly certain that similar operations being discussed here adhere to the same food hygiene standards and maybe even higher standards for example blast freezers, refrigerated delivery vehicles, and other expensive manufacturing and packing equipment that would maybe out of reach to smaller operations but improve quality and safety and can sometimes even reduce costs.

I and others who buy products outside Hua Hin are not just picking on any one local supplier - it is all of them who do not meet our standards for one reason or another
As for buying online and next day delivery. At least ordering online you are sure the item is in stock and will be delivered. In my experience cheaper than local suppliers without taking into account my fuel costs.
How many times do you get to a shop only to be told the item is out of stock?

Well skip the bacon, the sausages, the meat pies et al. There are plenty of choices and it's all a matter of your personal preferences BUT where can I get my kippers and smoked haddock ????

easyas wrote:I have direct experience of Sausage King products out of Chiang Mai and have to say they are excellent, as is the whole ordering / delivery process. It's a flat 350 baht for up to 15 kg weight (not 25kg as posted earlier) for a reliable door to door courier service delivery (not Thailand Post!).
While in no way decrying the quality of the products available locally here in Hua Hin, there is nowhere near the same variety of product available from all of the Hua Hin outlets put together as there is offered by Sausage King. Apart from his wide selection of sausages there are also many types of pies (both savoury and sweet), bacon, ham, meats (cooked and uncooked, local and imported), Indian curries and American food ... and more besides including Christamas puddings and mince pies! The quality of his products is great and they are all FDA approved.

Sorry, I have to correct myself - it is 25kg now, not 15.

Sorry, but I'm not there that often :D

An interesting statement there. Quality generally determines price. I have never seen a shop as clean as HHH&B, and that must go a long way to demonstrating quality. How do you know what you are getting from on-line suppliers? How clean is their manufacturing process? You only have to look at the various kitchens of different eating establishments around Hua Hin. Some are spotless, others you simply wouldn't want to put their product anywhere near your lips. This is replicated throughout Thailand in many ways. If their prices are cheaper, are they cutting back on cleanliness or something equally as important? I don't know, but with food products, I really wouldn't want to take the chance.
Isn't FDA approval enough for you?
How many Hua Hin suppliers have that?

I would happily support a local supplier provided they offered at least equal price and quality.
I personally do not care for the sausage in Ham and Bacon and have found others in Bangkok and even Pattaya to my taste who will deliver to my door and as a bonus are even cheaper( bulk freezer order) including delivery.
Agreed! Sausage King has an outlet in Pattaya - perhaps you are already indirectly buying from him?

Waitrose smoked kippers are available in Tops and Central Foodhall in Bangkok; they also have smoked haddock occasionally!

Stuff from Tesco, Makro and Big C is good, but where does that money go? Just providing a few more options for that special something you crave, but can't find in HH. PS - Where can I find VEGEMITE?

Vegemite available in Villa today in aisle 4 (Baby Food, Jams & Spreads!) both in a jar and in a tube, cheek by jowl with Marmite and Mad Cow Bovril and half the price of either! Love the stuff myself!

One for our Vegemite loving Aussie members...... Ezy-Sauce! Was given a bottle by a departing Aussie freind a couple of years ago, and used it (through their recipe) to make a great couple of relishes. Cannot source in China and did not find on my last visit to OZ (admittedly limited time). I can't imagine it's available in Hua Hin or Thailand for that matter, but one can only hope...
