Re: Thai Romance and Facebook
^ pretty much true. If there were a couple of men the OP knew of there were probably 10, or maybe a 100, that he did not know of.
A whole of of these gals work that facebook very hard and for a reason.

If she didn't she is either new to the game or there is something wrong with her.

Re: Thai Romance and Facebook
I know this story all to well. Had the same problem last year with my Thai girlfriend. She was always on FB but i could not see her posting alot (always available on chat) It got to the point where I made another profile and sent her a friend request. She kindly accepted (didn't know who the hell I was) and we started chatting. I asked if she had a boyfriend, but she would always change the subject. Asked about meeting up when I come to LOS, she said sure, why not. Then she was posting pics of her & "others" on her facebook, my alias could see, but my proper facebook account could not, so she was blocking the pictures from me. I couldn't confront her because this would have caused more problems her knowing i was spying on her. So gradually we argued more about nothing and finally finished.
I then told her I knew everything she put on FB and told her my alias. She went ape Sh*t. Said if i ever step foot in Hua Hin again I will die, she know many Mafia. 555
Well I returned and here I am, still alive.
Facebook has a lot to answer for. Be very careful what posts you like, who you be-friend and what you post, because somehow it always gets back to people.
Especially in Hua Hin.

Re: Thai Romance and Facebook
Is it possible to be completely anonymous on Facebook?
There is a person who's Facebook I would love to take a look at but, try as I might, I cannot find their page. I've tried every search that I can think of - every name & nickname I know of, birth date, assorted locations, phone numbers past & present. email address, etc.
I know not a lot about Facebook so maybe I'm going about it wrong or maybe it is possible to block the whole wide world until the person give out their Facebook account via email?
Can anyone shed any light or make a suggestion?
Cheers!

Re: Thai Romance and Facebook
I personally think facebook makes it a lot *harder* to cheat (without getting caught), even if you don't have it!
I live in Hua Hin, but even if I went for a night out in Khoa San road without telling my girlfriend, there's a chance of one of her friends being there and taking an incriminating photo. Or even a friend of a friend who takes a photo with me in, her friend likes and tags her in who subsequently tags my girlfriend in...
Luckily my girlfriend has no problem with me going for a night out in Kaho San. So if that's what I'm doing, I just tell her. Saves an awful lot of potential hassle!

Yes, it is possible to block everyone and anyone on your facebook profile. You can even be anonymous from people who search your name. You can set your profile so only certain friends can see what you post, you can even block people from tagging you in photos. I you don't want to be found on facebook, then it is possible to do. I have several profiles just on case i need them for certain spying missionscentermid7 wrote:Is it possible to be completely anonymous on Facebook?

hope you don't mind my asking : how old are you ?
Sorry so slow to reply but mucked up the quote button...Novice and all...I'm 44 and probably a bit old for the young ones. but I'm in good shape and in an underlit bar or restaurant can knock a decade off it.....I had a good beer up to forgot about the old one...and naturally enough have become facebook pals with the bar maid , whom at the grand old age of 19 makes the last girl positively ancient..I'm in amsterdam at the moment and am already spending time planning my next break..A little disappointment some times makes the better days sweeter....Thanks everyone for their comments and will see you all soon...

Re: Thai Romance and Facebook
First i want to say i feel bad hearing your story, but as some people here said atleast you got out in time.
I friend of a friend of mine who married a girl who spent alot of time on facebook and msn/hotmail and he started to get suspicious after a few months into their marriage. Somehow i dont know he finds out she has multiple facebook account as same as hotmail accounts.. I dont know if he hacked her pc or something but he found out she still had contact with more than one farang she had met i Thailand before meeting him. She always kept her "official" account open whenever he was around so he wouldnt find out she thought.
Anyone else have experience with this and how to find out? Is this behaviour common from girls who have a "farang-seeking" history?

Re: Thai Romance and Facebook
Be wary of any Thai who spends an inordinate amount of time on the mobile phone, those ridiculous social media outlets or watches Thai soapies everyday. It seems to turn them into rather poor copies of the stars and types of person they see themselves as!

You'd just be single wouldn't you?

Mediocrity is not confined to Thailand and I made no mention of "mighty western cultury" bsdk1960 - just an observation!

I am not sure I read your post right but you are saying they exchanged phone numbers ? I was told by a guy years ago, the first thing you do when you get a Thai girlfriend is to throw her phone on the ground and smash it.... He was being a bit extreme, but I got the point he was trying to make.
What was going through your mind at this exact point if you don't mind me asking ? If you were in a monogamous relationship with a girl and she met a guy on facebook and the exchanged phone numbers and proceeded to text each other I think I would be having a serious conversation at that point!!!!!!!!!!
