Taxi/limo

Post by Markp »

My wife and I are traveling to hua hin with our 3 year old and would like recommendations for a safe reliable taxi/limo service for airport transfers. We have travelled this journey a few times and all have been a white knuckle ride. :?

We say this every time: you get what you pay for, want an unfamiliar driver in an aging unserviced car? pay 1600. Want a limo with a professional driver that will wait for you and a service that you can book online, pay a little more. Everyone wants to be a cheapskate when it comes to taxis, its just another service with varying quality like everything else. If you live here and have your own driver fair enough, if you're on holiday what is an extra few baht to be driven in comfort and safety?

There's always the new bus-service Markp..big new bus, direct to HH, toilet on board, leaves BKK airport every 2 hrs through the day I think, & maybe less chance of your 3yr old getting car-sick..cost 305B per person..check the posts relating to it here on the forum.. :-)

(With the crappy exchange rate at the moment, IF the bus-times suit your check-in/arrival times, then it does seem a logical option to pay way less to travel on the very same route as a taxi to/from HH.)

I'm gonna give the new bus a go when I'm next out, £35 isn't a bad little saving.

I think anybody travelling on their own would be silly not to. I've seen the bus going through town, and it looks good. As you say, the saving are great - even at an expensive bar, that equates to a good night's drinking (20 bottles of beer).

We got hooked up with a driver about 6 years ago when we were still relative novices when it came to HH and the journey from Swampy. We are still using him today and he charges us Bht.3,000 each way and despite my protestations, my wife will not change or negotiate a reduction in fare, because he is totally reliable, a safe driver with whom she feels totally comfortable and after all, as she puts it, what's a few quid extra when it's your life you're talking about. :?
