What about an Orange Card?

Post by easyas »

Referees are getting more and more hesitant about awarding a second yellow. As you all know a second yellow results in a mandatory red card sending off.
How about introducing a mid way orange card penalty, 10 minutes sin bin, for what would currently be a second yellow card and an automatic full game sending off?
There should still be direct red card offences, of course.

I'm not sure the use of the term "Orange Card" has been used, but the concept of a sin bin has been mentioned anu ber of times on this forum. As you have suggested, maybe a half way stage between yellow and red for two book able offences, or as was mentioned before for simulating (diving) a straight Orange card - I think it would be a great idea and give the opposition an advantage for a fairly brief but meaningful period.

I'm totally in agreement with diving warranting a straight Orange Card - I'm so sick of a particularly well known diver falling over and turning his pleading face and up thrust arm to the referee!
