Greetings from Isaan

Post by Ratsima »

First visited Thailand in 1977.

First visited Hua Hin in 1989 and have returned, as a visitor, frequently since then.

Retired to Thailand in 2005.

Contemplating the purchase of a home or condo in the Hua Hin/Cha Am area. I miss the beach.

Welcome to the forum. I lived in khon Kaen for 7 years prior to moving to HH 18 months ago. i will always fondly remember the time I spent in Isaan but moving here was a good decision.

I would recommend that you firstly rent a property here and take your time to have a look around for something that fits your needs.

After making regular visits over the past two decades I pretty much know where I want to be.

I won't be moving permanently for a while, so I'll probably opt for a condo.

I miss the beach....

Yes, I live in Korat. Been here eight years now. My wife's family is from here, so when I retired we decided to settle close by. My wife has her own law office in Korat and is not quite ready to retire, so we'll keep this as our residence for a while and consider Hua Hin/Cha Am as an occasional getaway.

I like Korat a lot. You can get everything you need here, but it's still a relatively quiet place and very convenient. The cost of living is quite reasonable, as well.

But, as I said, I miss the beach. (I spent most of my adult life living on an island in the Pacific. I didn't realize how much I'd miss the ocean.)
