Technically, I don't think they are trolls, they are spammers.
As in 'throwing a spammer in the works'...
EDIT: As for detecting them, that is a piece of cake for mods as alert, intelligent, perceptive and intrepid as ours.

They are spammers richard, not trolls. Our moderators delete them as soon as they see them - unfortunately the moderators are only human so need to sleep now and then, this is when the occasional one slips through. We apologise profusely for the inconvenience this causes you to warrant posting a new topic on it.

Trolls will go away if ignored, but Spammers are on a mission to post as many spam links as possible. Some days we get attacked by 10 or even more Spammers, and we are constantly battling to protect you guys from the rubbish they want to post.
