Bus to Swampy from HH then fly to KK. It's about a 7 hour journey by car.

Or VIP bus from BKK Mo Chit, about 5-6 hours. Buses about every 30 mins.

Or get the VIP bus from Hua Hin to Korat, then an onward bus to KK.

Makes the most sense to me, avoids the minivans. Flying is way too much hassle and expense for a 45-min(in the air) flight.

This is good advice and the mode many people take - it is also a reasonable cost.
It does not matter where you come from, it's where you are going that matters.

Or train from Bangkok. The sleeper leaves HuaLamphong about 5.30 pm and goes through KK.

Agree with caller - catch VIP bus near electric office (sth of market village). Very comfortable and may well go on through to khon khaen now! Only prob. is the horrible Thai TV and music which thank God is not too loud.
