Hi
Can anyone recommend somewhere that my 6 year old son can learn Muay Thai? He's really keen to try it and We're keen that he keeps up some sport here.
Thanks for any info.

It's a shame he's only 6, otherwise I could have offered Karate as an alternative. Unfortunately, the Wado philosophy considers 6 years old too young to learn martial arts.

Emme J, there's a Taekwondo school which opened recently on soi 6. I'm not sure of prices and class times, but the place is quite professional looking, and apparently the school has been going since 1998.
Also, I'm not sure what the minimum age is but it might be worth looking into. If you do check it out, please post on here because we have a six year old daughter that would like to try it as well. Our eldest girl is doing Wado Karate and loving it.
Buksi.....the link you posted is of no real help as far as kids are concerned. The last time I contacted Klaus he said they no longer offer classes for kids.

An interesting response Takiap. As you know, we don't usually take students under the age of 8, but there are exceptions - your eldest daughter is a prime example.
I guess it's a case of 'never say never'. If you want your middle daughter to have a trial, you know the first lesson is free, and you also know that if she is not up to it, I will tell you. You are more than welcome to bring her along tonight or next week, and we can see how it goes.
Likewise for you Emma J. Kiddies as young as your son usually struggle a little. However, the first lesson with Wado Karate is always free, so you are more than welcome to bring him along to a session (Wednesdays 7pm to 9pm). We can see how he fits in, and he can decide if he likes what I do (a 2 way trial so to speak). We are a small club i.e. never more than 6 students in the Dojo, so personal attention is guaranteed. There is no obligation whatsoever to continue beyond the free lesson. If you would like more detail, please let me know and I can provide contact detail. I originate from Bristol, England, so language will not be a problem.
Children's karate is a combination of learning basic karate skills, mixed with appropriate games to keep interest levels high.
There is an advertorial thread running on this forum here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=21316 . On that thread you will find basic contact details, costs, videos etc. This club is not run for profit, but to further karate.
Just give me a shout if you're interested - absolutely no financial risk, and it will certainly keep him fit, whilst learning an important life skill.
