This link has some pictures and explains what some of the insects are and what they are called, also tells you how to cook them.

Can be eaten raw real Isaan style
This is true - my wife will pounce on green ants as they walk past, and eat them (I always get this vision of them walking back up her throat and out of her mouth again).

My mother-in-law used to get those huge flies that sit in trees making a lot of noise. She used to get them down from the trees, pull their wings off and eat them as they were.

Maeng Krap season is just starting again. Mrs BB is starting her daily routine of wandering around the mini-jungle in front of our house collecting them. However, she does fry them first.

Agreed but it must be one of the most convincing arguments for wearing a full face helmet. :D

Not always protective. Once had the bodily juices of a fat bluebottle spray all over my teeth, while wearing my Shoei. I'd like to report it tasted mildly of rum and raisin ice cream but I was too busy being sick into my helmet.

You may not realize it but we have already been eating bugs. Food giants have been grinding them up and using them for food colourings for years.

Thais first break the head off and suck out the insides. Then crush the head and suck out the brains

I'll try anything once and often return for second helpings. However after a bad experience in Patts, NO more scorpions!! Being a Scorpio, I think it was a revenge attack. TG Mama San had Calamine lotion on hand to ease the hives!! :troll:

Couldn't you have described how the Thais gently braise it in melted Ferrero Rocher accompanied by a fine red wine? You heathen. :tsk:
