Indian food in Hua Hin
Mods, forgive me for starting a new thread, but I want to talk about all Indian restaurants in the area, not just one.
Fellow forum members and Indian food gourmets, I need your help. It is, yet again, Mrs D-M's 29th birthday (I believe when she passes 40, she will allow herself to become 35), and she has a hankering for some decent Indian food.
Principal requirements to make My Beloved happy are the quality of the naan and the daal (and the vegetable samosas).
There are quite a few Indian restaurants in HH and Cha-am now:
Aree & Indian Hut (closed for the time being) in Cha-am
In HH: Smor Spa (Takiap)
S&S
Poonsuk Rd
Naresdamri Rd (The Taj Mahal or some equally unoriginal name)
The Ayurvedic Clinic restaurant.
Did I leave any off?
Ladies & Gentlemen, I appeal to you - please help me satisfy my wife.
Where should I take her, bearing in mind the "naan and the daal (and the vegetable samosas)".

I would rephrase that request if I were you d-m.dtaai-maai wrote:........Ladies & Gentlemen, I appeal to you - please help me satisfy my wife.........
There are some folk around here who might get the wrong ideas............

Re: Indian food
I think you can cross the Ayurvedic Restaurant off your list. The food is good and the Naan bread is excellent but unfortunately their drinks menu is a little basic. When we went we were offered Chang beer and out came two warm cans of Chang; when other friends went they had neither beer or wine. The restaurant itself is always empty; I would say it is an excellent place for a take away but most certainly not for a special evening. Also as mentioned before the menu is a bit limited but they say they will cook anything you ask for"

For a special birthday treat, it has to be Smor Spa - fantastic setting and atmosphere on the beach, unobtrusive live music and great food.
The next buffet night just happens to be tomorrow - I'm sure if you contact Sam there, he'll make sure that all the required components are present.

Thanks for the suggestions - Smor Spa it is then! I've spoken to Sam and he assures me Mrs D-M's every whim will be met...
On a more general note, I haven't eaten at the other places for a while. Any recent feed
back?

When we were in HH the last time, we went to the Indian down the road that leads to the piers. I would not go there again, food pretty average, bill very high. Also not very friendly IMOdtaai-maai wrote:Mods, forgive me for starting a new thread, but I want to talk about all Indian restaurants in the area, not just one.

Kao Takiap - but I couldn't give directions. I think it's marked on the city map linked below.
EDIT: There's also a thread here viewtopic.php?f=16&t=22000 that will probably include directions

Look for the surf board stood up outside - going by beach or by road entrance

From Hua Hin take the road into Kao Takiab, keep going into the village and it's on the left not far past the first 7/11 you come to on the left.Dannie Boy wrote: Can you remind the short memory ones of us, where is Smor Spa located?

Re: Indian food in Hua Hin
I am trying Samor Spa too, for the first time tonight, so hope it is as good as reported.
But the best value and very tasty Indian has to be S&S, a couple of roads before Market Village.
Very popular with the farang community, and every visit you see people who have been there before, so this must be a good sign. I go most weeks and have never been disappointed with anything.
A typical meal for two with a beer and soft drink will be around 400 bht, and the menu has all the usual items you see on a UK Indian menu.
Don't get dressed up to go, it is more like a local cafe !! But the food is great.

It will be interesting to see how they compare (in your opinion) - I assume you will post a report?Majestic Creek wrote:I am trying Samor Spa too, for the first time tonight, so hope it is as good as reported.
