Not a good start for Irish Hooker Cian Healy, who is being cited for biting in the match between the British Lions and western Force. He was later stretchered off the pitch after damaging his ankle in a tackle, so could well miss part or all of the remaining tour regardless of whether he receives a ban or not.

I for one was all for Healy making the tour, but this incident if true deserves the maximum punishment. Puts the Lions and the game as a whole in a very bad light.

A great tournament that does tend to get overlooked somewhat is the annual Junior World Championship. This year's tournament, which kicked off yesterday is being held in France with under 20's from the major rugby playing nations vying to take the title from current holders South Africa. Certainly a showpiece for the stars of the future, with several of the current British Lions squad coming through the ranks.

Have just watched a BBC documentary BARRY JOHN, THE KING, marking the 40th anniversary of his retirement from rugby.

Very interesting, some great old clips, and just a little bit sad in a way.

Onto this weekend, and RUGBY HEAVEN!!! Not only the British Lions and Junior World Championship, but we have the June Internationals with Japan vs Wales, Argentina vs England, USA vs Ireland, Samoa vs Scotland, New Zealand vs France & South Africa vs Italy making up the 1st round of fixtures...

British Lions vs Queensland Reds

A much sterner test for the Lions this Saturday, with the Reds announcing a strong team despite the loss of a couple of players through injury or "international duty" (again..... ).

Was that the tour when captain Willie-John McBride shouted a code word and all the Lions decked the nearest Springbok? All because the referees were not giving any protection to the Lions against persistant foul play.

Remember a quote from JJ Williams saying whilst he was running to safety and away from the brawl, he passed JPR running at a sprint in the opposite direction to join in the punch up - apparently running half the length of the pitch for fear of being left out!! One tough nut and a hell of a player that guy.

Cian Healy has been cleared of biting Western Force scrum-half Brett Sheehan. Insufficient evidence.

"There is no conclusive video evidence of the incident and post-match it was not possible to distinguish any discernible bite marks outside of the 'regular' marks usually found following a rugby match," Mr Hampton said in his findings.

Good news regarding the verdict on Healy's citing, but in light of the ligament damage he suffered in the game against Western Force, it's quite possible he will play no further part in the tour.

Anywho, back to the matter in hand and bring on the Reds!!
