Grandfathered retirement visa

Post by richard »

Can anyone (Lomu?) explain this to me and whether it is still applied?

I've been on a retirement visa extension now for over 7 years.

Richard grandfathered as far as i know means that the previous requirement for a retirement visa was 400k PA when they changed it to 800k PA those that were already on the 400K did not need to have 800k
In other words the rules you obtained your Original/first Retirement Visa was granted on will still be Honoured

Do you have any reason to suspect that it cannot continue indefinitely, providing of course you meet the general criteria?

I've never seen anything written down regarding grandfathering but it has been in effect for years - I believe that there may still be some long-termers here who are getting retirement extensions on the basis of 20,000 K income or 200,000 in the bank.
So, as far as I'm aware, there's no right to this but in practice it's allowed - at least for now.
