BG, If you weren't able to see it Tuukka Rask was sensational against the Penguins. The highest-scoring offense in hockey, pure firepower, and they scored 2 goals in 4 games with nothing for Crosby and Malkin.

Re: Stanley Cup final
johnny, I haven't been able to watch the games but they have shown the highlights and yes, there's speculation that Rask might even get the MVP of the series. I'll try to find out how to watch the finals.

I'm lucky to watch it in real time. This is the match-up I was hoping for! Both excellent teams who give away very little, both can play finesse hockey and both can play tough if needed. Should be a very entertaining, hard-fought series.

Re: Stanley Cup final
Fantastic game last night, 3-1 for the Bruins with 12 mins to go. Hawks tied it up and so to sudden-death overtime. They played almost an entire second game, two full periods and 7 mins shy of a third period before a shot hit two guys, changing direction twice and game over, Hawks 4-3. Both goalies superb stopping 60+ shots. Some of the defensemen like Chara, Keith, Seidenberg played 42-43 mins when a normal game would be 24-25 mins. One announcer said they looked like they were skating in sand they were exhausted. A great one to win for the Hawks, a tough one to lose for the Bruins and super for the fans to see two really good teams so evenly matched.

Re: Stanley Cup final
Bobby Orr the nonpareil, greatest player ever.
First and only defenceman to score nine hat tricks
First defenceman to score 30 goals (1969–70) and 40 goals (1974–75) in a season.
First player to record 100 assists in a season (1970–71)
Only defenceman to lead the league in scoring (1969–70, 1974–75)
Only player ever to win the four major player trophies (at that time) in one season Norris Trophy, Art Ross Trophy, Hart Trophy, and Conn Smythe Trophy(1969–70) T
Lucky me, I saw him play Junior A when he was a skinny, 15-yr old in Canada's top Junior A league. Playing against players 19 &20 years old, he was the dominant player on the ice.

Re: Stanley Cup final
Saw Bobby Orr in Detroit, Gordie Howe (personal favorite being from Detroit) and was in LA when Gretzky czme.
When he came to LA the arena went from an average of 50% full to 100%. Hollywood came out and Southern California discovered Hockey

Yes, but how many Norris Trophies did Gretzky win?prcscct wrote:Hockey News Has Gretzky on top. Pete![]()

IMO Orr could do more things and changed the game, inventing the "offensive" defenseman who was a totally different kind of player from anything seen before.
These comparisons are fun to discuss but I think the truth is each was the best of his time, can't really compare era to era.
