I own an old UK spec Yamaha YB100 ( sad I know). On previous visits to Thailand I have noticed very similar models being ridden around.( I think the model was Thailand Yamaha YL2).
I wonder does anyone know the easiest place to source new pattern or original spares for this motorcycle ?.
I am thinking of ordering some generic parts and have them delivered to relatives ahead of my visit
thank you all

Ken,
Ordering bike spares in Thailand seems a big challenge for foreigners. I've emailed dozens of companies and 90% don't even bother to reply. Unless you have a 'made in Thailand' bike - you're screwed...
Are you saying your bike is in the U.K. and you wish to purchase spares in Thailand and take back? In either cases I think you would be far better purchasing in the U.K. The customer service will be far better and I'll be the price is cheaper.

Thank You for the above reply
Yes my motorcycle is in the UK and I am hoping to locate some spares during my next visit. I have taken detailed photos of the parts I want to source, it would nice to bring back something usefull to the UK. ( so far all I have risked are tyres & 2 stroke oil)

Ken,
I'm pretty sure you will have better luck getting genuine or aftermarket parts in the U.K. Has the YB100 not reached cult status now? A quick search of Ebay brings up over 1,500 results. This would be the cheapest and most efficient way to go in my mind.
Are you coming to Thailand for holiday or specifically for parts. Some might say you are tong ting to waste valuable holiday time to pursue bike parts, sounds like something I would do....
The YB100 I think is quite common here, probably due to the low costs so I imagine parts can be sought but from where??
You could try emailing Yos (faddybike@gmail.com) as he seems falang-friendly for now.
Get on Ebay

P.S. Take a steel rule, measuring tape and digital vernier with you and store all the photos/measurements in your smart phone.

Hi
I have the chance of bringing in a complete old classic scooter in bits from cambodia, would it be easy to just bring it in over the border in truck as spares.

Probably depend on who`s truck you are referring to. If you are anywhere in sight expect to make a donation of a lot more than it is worth.magnum wrote:Hi

May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead!

Magnum, if you don't register it and pay the expected import duty then forget about getting a greenbook and going road-legal.
